Ryn's pov

The air was already getting chilly and I should've really taken Ace's words seriously. Now I was cold and in desperate need of coffee. Not only that but I was cursing at myself inwardly for not taking my motorcycle even though the supermarket wasn't far.

I let out a grumble as I kicked a small pebble that I had noticed in front of me. It was already dark and the lamppost lights were just lighting up. The streets were now completely empty except for some few civilians and stray animals.

I was looking down at the sidewalk chalk art that I was sure the little kids had done when I stumbled into someone or they stumbled into me but either way I was not in the mood.

"Watch where you are going!" I spat not bothering to look up as I side step whoever it was. I was sure that the person was male by how big and buff the body had felt when not a second ago I was plastered to it.

Whoever it was reaches out their hands and grabs my elbow in a way to bring me to a halt. I turn my furious eyes to whoever dared and nearly bit back my tongue at seeing the familiar face.

Buzzed cut blonde hair, bright eyes and a nice jawline, yep I certainly recognized him especially when he did come to my home not long ago because of some burnt cupboards, which by the way Ace hadn't replaced.

"Oh it's you..." I started to speak but stopped when I realized that indeed I knew him by features but not by name. Why can't his name stick in my head? I'm sure it's not hard or a tongue twister.

He lets out a laugh. "You've forgotten already? It's Derek."

I nod. "Yeah Derek, uh sorry about that I'm just having a bad day." I apologized.

He nods then gives me a charming smile. "That's understandable."

I return the smile even though I had to force it and looked at the hand he still had wrapped around my elbow that keeps me from walking away. He notices where my gaze was and quickly retracts his hands scratching his hair in embarrassment.

"Oh sorry." He mumbles giving me a cheeky smile.

I nod. "That's fine." I respond and start walking away.

"Wait hold up!" He shouts. I let out a silent groan. Can't a girl just get some coffee?

I stopped and turned around to face him. "Is there something you need?" I asked trying not to sound rude.
