"Really. A hardware store Niall?" I asked.
"Harry are you really going to talk to me about this one right now?" He asked me back.
"Yes."
"It's two in the morning." He whines.
"I don't care. Of all job opportunities you could've given her, it had to be at a hardware store."
"What's wrong with it?"
"She's a goddamn nurse. What do you want her to do there? Nursing the tools?"
Niall laughs. "Out of all the jokes you pulled off, that one was funniest."
I groaned. "I'm not joking Niall."
He exhales. "Relax will you? And hey, that was the only vacant job I know that my friends had. Sorry."
I push my hair off my face.
"Did she whine about it?" Niall asked.
"No. I'm just concerned about her. She doesn't know the tools and other stuff."
"Why are you still so concerned about her? She's out of your hands now. She's not your burden anymore. She never was. At least she has a job." He tells me.
I threw myself to my bed and lowered down the lights of my bedroom.
"Not unless you're interested in her that's why you're still looking after her." He adds.
"She is interesting." I agreed. "But not in another way that your mind is thinking." Added.
"Mmmhm, then why did you come here in New York and picked her up from the restaurant a while ago?" He asked.
"Cos you were worried I might steal her from you." He answered his own question.
"Get a hold of yourself Niall." I tell him.
He chuckles.
"You could've offered her a position at Alfonso's. It's a bit safer cos I know the boss." I continued.
"Sorry mate, we got no vacant jobs available right now. But I'll call her right away if we're in need of new employees." He answers me. "Plus, Devon Stone is a great man." He adds.
"Alright. Sorry to bother you. Night." I say.
"No worries. Night Harry."
I hang up and placed my phone on my side table drawer. It's been four days since Audrey tried to contact me. No calls or text from her, but then I'm still worried of her. Even though I try not to think of where and how she is, the news from days ago is still buried in my mind.
Then Miranda comes barging inside my head. No matter how hard I try to resist her, she's still holding me back. I still think of her. I still worry about her. I still want to see her. And a while ago, at her home, I still want to stay for the night. I want to be with her cos she's fun to be with. I enjoy being with her and I really wanted to kiss her lips and taste her kiss. If Ben didn't ruin the moment I would've tasted her.
Harry Styles get a grip, you're about to be married!
I sigh.
I think I need some sleep, I still need to pick her and Ben in a few hours.
The following morning, I parked my car right outside her house. I look up to the sky and the clouds looked gloomy, I wish it won't rain today so she won't get soaked like last night.
Though the view of her getting wet is sexy as hell.
Harry, stop being so malicious. She's just a friend to you. That's it. I scolded myself again.
I shake my head about the view of Miranda soaked from last night.
I gazed at my watch and it was already seven twenty. I began walking up to their front door and knocked. I waited for a while before the door finally opens. It was Ben, wearing a denim jumper with a white shirt beneath it and a backpack behind him.
"Uncle Harry!" He smiled and threw himself at me.
"Hey kiddo." I rubbed his hair.
"Ben who is that?" I hear Miranda calling out as she walks to the front door.
"It's uncle Harry mom!" Ben shouts back as she pulled himself away.
I see Miranda so beautifully, standing a few steps away right behind Ben. She wears a white body hugging shirt tucked in her faded blue skinny jeans and wore a pair of sneakers. Her curve was showing through that shirt while the ends of her hair was still wet and she looks insanely simple and she looks really hot right now.
She smiles at me as she walks closer to the front door. "Good morning Harry."
I smiled back, "Good morning."
"I'm actually done. I just need to grab my bag and my jacket." She says.
"It's okay. I can really wait." I tell her.
"I'll be quick. I promise." She says.
She walks back inside the living room as I watch her ass on that tight jeans while she struts her stuff away from us. I exhale heavily and tried to control myself from what I'm seeing.
Hold your dick Styles. You're off limits. I reminded myself.
"Uncle Harry." Ben calls out my attention.
I moved my head to him and he was already holding a black hair band. "I want my hair to be like last night." He tells me.
"Your hair is still wet, maybe once it's dry we can tie it up. How's that sound?" I smiled at him.
"Alright." He keeps his black band inside his pocket.
Miranda rushed back out and she was already wearing a black leather jacket over her shirt. She gazes at me before fixing her son's backpack.
"Let's go. You'll be late for your first day." I tell her.
The three of us walked to my car and I opened the passenger door for Miranda and the backseat door for Ben. I helped him get inside and then rushed my way to the driver's seat.
"Seatbelt." I tell Ben over the rear view mirror.
He buckled his own seatbelt, "Done! Let's blast off!"
Miranda and I laughed together. I began driving our way to the hardware store.
"I hope you're not nervous." I tell her.
"I am but I'll try my best." She answers.
"You can do this. And don't worry about Ben, I'll take care of him for the day."
"YEY!" Ben chimes from the backseat.
I smiled at myself. I'm feeling happy that I'm getting close with Ben even though I know from the start he didn't like me.
"Thank you very much for this Harry." Miranda says.
"No need to thank me. It's nothing."
Finally I dropped her off the hardware store and she glares at it over her shoulders before she closes the passenger door.
"Here I am." I say
I lowered the backseat's window, "Bye mom!" Ben waves at her.
"Be a good boy alright? Don't let uncle Harry get mad." She tells him.
"I won't mom." He smiles.
