Chapter 0261
“Go ahead, pull the trigger!” Dylan grabbed Suzy’s hand, firmly holding the one gripping the gun. “If you really hate me that much, do it now!
“Fine!” Suzy loaded the gun without a moment’s hesitation and pulled the trigger.
“Whoa, Dylan!” Victor appeared just in time, yanking Suzy away from Dylan in a swift, precise move.
The shot went wide, hitting the floor–to–ceiling window. The glass shattered instantly, splintering into countless fragments that rained down like sharp crystal shards.
Victor shot Dylan an incredulous look, his heart still racing.
“Are you out of your mind? Standing there like that, as if she’s still the woman who used to love you unconditionally? The Suzy you knew is long gone. She doesn’t feel a thing for you anymore. How many times do you need to test her before you finally get it through your thick skull?”
Victor shook his head in frustration. If he hadn’t been nearby and spotted Suzy heading toward Dylan’s office, Dylan could be dead by now.
Things between the two had been tense lately, to say the least, and Victor had followed out
of sheer concern.
If they argued, at least he could step in to mediate–or so he thought.
This wasn’t an argument. This was practically a battle to the death.
Thank God he’d shown up in time and thank God he’d moved quickly. If he had been even a second too late…
Victor turned his frustrated glare to Suzy. “You two were married, for crying out loud. No matter what happened, isn’t this a bit much? Did you really need to go that far?”
Suzy shot him a cold glance. “Whatever happens between us is none of your business.”
“Sure, it’s none of my business,” Victor admitted, exasperated. “But he’s my best friend. And you…” He paused, choosing his words carefully. “Look, whatever issues you two have, settle them with words, not bullets. Especially you, Suzy. Someone who looks as stunning as you shouldn’t be running around like a character in a gangster movie.”
Suzy’s face darkened with irritation. “You talk too much.”
She turned to Dylan, her gaze icy. “Fine. I’ll let this go for Victor’s sake today. But don’t think this is over between us,”
With those words, Suzy turned on her heel and strode out of the room.

As Suzy’s figure disappeared into the distance, the echo of the gunshot still reverberated in Dylan’s ears. He had thought her hatred was a lingering remnant of love, but now he understood–her hate and love were entirely separate..
Hate was hate, love was love–two completely separate emotions, with no room for overlap.
Seeing Dylan’s despondent expression, Victor patted him on the shoulder. “It’s time to face reality.”
Dylan gave a bitter laugh. “Easier said than done.”
He wanted to accept the truth that Suzy no longer loved him but it was impossible to come to terms with it. His eyes darkened as he called for Desmond. “Transfer all my shares, futures, and properties to Suzy’s name. Every last one of them.”
Victor stared at him, dumbfounded. “Seriously Dylan? I never took you for someone who’d lose his head over a woman!”
It was just a woman! Victor couldn’t imagine himself acting this way for anyone–not in this lifetime.
When Suzy returned to Hillside Villa, she immediately went upstairs to check on Charlotte and report her progress. “Aunt, I’ve already acquired the majority of Wright Corporation’s shares. The company will soon disappear from Ashbourne City altogether.”
Charlotte’s face lit up with excitement. “Really? That’s wonderful, absolutely wonderful!” But moments later, worry clouded her features. “Dylan must regret how he treated you now. He might even try to feign remorse and beg for forgiveness. You mustn’t fall for it!”
Suzy’s lips curved into a mocking smile. “Don’t worry, I won’t.”
“Good,” Charlotte said, visibly relieved. “Dylan was never the right match for you. If you can truly let go of him, I could die happy, knowing I have nothing left to worry about.”
