"Do you think that is the right thing to do?"
Matthew finally let the word out. Damien who was seated at the backseat of the batmoblie, scrolling through his phone looked up at him.
He had been expecting Matthew to say a thing since they left the detention room. He'd thought that Matthew would speak as soon as he caught up with him in the hallway, but there had been silence until they settled down in the car.
Matthew was in the driver's seat about to ignite the motion. It took a hesitation from him to bring himself to asking the question.
"I mean... sorry, I don't mean to rude but..."
Matthew turned in the driver's seat to look Damien in the eyes. Earlier, he'd been looking at Damien through the rear view mirror, but now he had a rethink.
The manner at which he gazed upon Damien too, it was obvious that he wasn't scared of anything. The curiosity and taste for information, gobbled up the iota of fear which used to lurk somewhere deep in his mind.
"Why did you have to settle with them? I mean... I thought you would make them pay for all the terrible things they have done to the girls."
"But they didn't do it. The ultra rich men did."
Damien interrupted. It was as though Matthew has been hit by some rocket. His face tuned and he arced his head to gaze upon Damien as though he would punch the latter in the face if he so gets the slightest opportunity.
"What!"
He exclaimed.
"You can ignite the motion of the car if I've answered your question."
Damine looked back to his phone. Even though he wasn't looking Matthew in the eyes anymore, yet he could feel the heat of Mathew's glare on the side of his face. It burnt.
"Give me a good reason why you did that. Is it because you don't care or what? I mean, you look kind though sometimes you act tough. I thought you liked the girls and would protect them. Perhaps I was wrong about you."
Damien looked up at him for a while.
"Perhaps... and I'm not responsible for your assumptions."
Damien replied coldly then looked back at his phone. He could hear Matthew grunt in displeasure before turning away to concentrate on driving.
Damien heard the motion ignited and then the car zoomed off. He could feel the rage of Mattehew in the manner at which he steered the wheel of the car.
While Matthew drove on, Damien took the risk to look up slightly from his phone. He allowed himself to make certain hypotheses which seemed remote to him on the natural.
IS HE GOOD? IS THAT WHY I FEEL CONNECTED TO HIM?
To think that the cunny and shady Matthew had this kind of side to himself was quite strange but beautiful too. It was a reminder to Damien that he didn't make a terrible choice by choosing Matthew as his personal secretary.
His mind strayed to Denzel. He had no idea why he was drawn to that fellow too. But he hoped he could find a way around it. Soon enough.
Back in the company of the BMX group, the men were gathered around Mr Marcot in the lobby.
"Did you think he meant it when he said that we would be using the multipurpose hall of the Boldyville hotel as the place of event?"
One of the men asked.
"We all heard him clearly. What's there not to believe."
"If that's right then does it mean that he owns the hotel?"
One of them cackled suddenly,
"Come on, don't be ridiculous right now. Do you think buying the hotel is like buying a burger? Even if he is rich enough to buy our company, that doesn't even mean that he can buy an apartment in the Boldyville estate let alone buy the hotel. If it was so easy, why didn't Colton buy an apartment in the estate? Are you on some sort of drugs...?"
The man with the earring who had just spoken scoffed again,
"Buy the hotel, he said."
The man scoffed.
"I'm sure that I don't have to tell you that what you did earlier was nuts."
Mr Marcot had a glare shot at the man with an earring. The man bowed.
"I'm sorry, Mr Marcot. I had no idea what got into him. It had never occurred to me to cross you, how dare I bite the fingers of the hand feeding me?"
Mr Marcot kept the glare for a while, looking from one corner of his face to the other. Then he looked away.
"In everything you do in live, do not underestimate a stranger. It might be the beginning of your end."
Mr Marcot warned then walked away from the cluster of men.
"Huh?"
"What did he mean by that?"
"Wow, so cool. He surely have an answer to every question. I wish I was related to him in bloodline."
The man with an earring said no word. He only watched as Mr Marcot walked away. The man's face held a very filtered gaze.
"Pull over."
