Evan's P. O. V.

I did it. I couldn't hold it in anymore. I love her and it was time to admit it. To her and myself. I felt like I was losing her when she said she wanted to date Mike. I thought I could force her to be with me but it wasn't possible.

I turned her around to look at her face and to see her reaction. She stood in front of me, speechless. I guess I really shocked her.

"Say something," I looked at her with a pained expression. If she rejects me now I don't know what I would do. I would be so heartbroken.

"Evan," her voice broke as she said my name. Tears were streaming down her cheeks. She took her glasses off and let it fall on the floor.

"Annie! What are you doing? You need these!" I exclaimed and picked it up. Thank god it wasn't broken, I thought.

She was sobbing. Did I somehow hurt her even more by confessing my love for her? That doesn't make any sense.

"Annie, what's wrong? Why are you crying? Did I say something wrong? Look you don't have to love me back okay? I just wanted to tell you how I feel," I said and wiped her tears away.

"Evan...I can't see," she said in a choked whisper.

"Huh? What are you talking about?" I asked.

"I...I can't see. I can't see your face, it's blurry," she was starting to hyperventilate.

"Hey, calm down. Of course, you can't see. You just took your glasses off and threw it on the floor!" I exclaimed.

"No, you don't understand. I don't need them anymore because I can't see no matter what! I knew it was going to happen but I didn't think it would be so soon," she sobbed in her hands.

I finally understood what she was talking about. Her eye condition! She said something about going permanently blind. Fuck...is that really happening now? I wrapped her into a hug. She must be terrified.

"Shh...it's okay, just breathe. I am here. I know you can't see me but I am here. What do I do? Tell me what to do?" I said. I tried to keep my voice steady so she doesn't hear me panicking. I needed to be strong.

"I need to go to the doctor, so they can che...check," she said and clung to me more.

"Okay, I'll take you. Hold my hand. No...wait...fuck it, I am carrying you," I said and picked her up. She was frail and weighed next to nothing.

"I can walk," she protested. Her face was red.

"Now is not the time to be embarrassed," I said grimly and carried her all the way to my car.

I drove to the hospital. I thought about calling her mom but I stopped as I remembered how much of a bitch she was. I will call her later, I thought.

She finally stopped crying but had a dark expression on her face.

The doctor checked her eyes. "So you can't see anything, huh?"

"No, it's all blurry," she whispered.

"Do you see anything when I shine this on you?" the doctor asked and pointed a flashlight at her eye.

"Um...it's kind of fuzzy," she said.

"Hmm...I will run some more tests. Is there a parent or a guardian I can speak with?" he asked.
