Eva
She felt like someone was calling her name, Eva was not able to recognize the voice. She tried opening her eyes and looking at the person who was calling her.
She kept staring at the person calling her with blank eyes, she tried to focus on his face but her vision was blurred.
"Mam, are you okay?" The guard heaved a sigh of relief after he saw Eva getting conscious.
"What happened?" Eva asked him, her vision was still blurry but she recognized the guard by his voice.
"You passed out, after watching the news", The guard replied.
Eva remembered everything like a flash of light, she was watching the news about Taimur after the guard had turned on the television. Her battered nerves had given up and she lost consciousness.
" Please can you call Taimur?" She asked, trying to get up and sit.
"I don't think it is a good idea, His Highness is in a meeting with the Royal Council", He replied.
" Oh, can you try calling Riyadh", Eva asked the guard.
The guard looked at her for a few seconds then withdrew his cell from his pocket and forwarded it to Eva.
Eva dialed Riyadh from the contacts, it was ringing but he didn't receive the call. She tried once again but Riyadh didn't answer. She gave the cell back to the guard and started watching the news.
The men who had attacked Taimur and because of which Ahmed had lost his life were in custody. Out of the 8 persons 3 had died in the cross-firing. Haris had also sustained a bullet injury on his arm.
There was a crackdown on the RRH organization, their members were being arrested around the world. An Italian supermarket chain owner was the head of the organization RRH.
Taimur had been working with the CIA to take down the RRH. He had just joined them so that he could bring them down.
Eva felt ashamed of herself, there was a time when she had thought Taimur to be a cold-blooded criminal. Instead, he was just like her working to bring them down. He had risked his life for this, Eva didn't know why but she felt proud to be a part of his life.
He was unlike any other man, he had everything that a man could desire but still, he had risked everything for the greater good. No matter how much he tried to depict he was ruthless and insensitive but in truth, he was the opposite.
The little remaining feeling of contempt in her heart for Taimur had faded away. She loved him and she knew his treatment of Eva was justified.
Taimur had always been honest with her, he had always loved her sincerely. But Eva had deceived him, though she fell in love with him still she did not tell him the truth about her identity.
Further details were still coming out. Ahmed was given a state funeral and after his burial, the Royal Council had called a meeting with Taimur.
It was a closed-door meeting hence there was no information about what was being discussed. But some experts were having the opinion that it might result in Taimur being designated as the Crown Prince.
Eva looked at the clock it was showing 11 pm, the meeting was still going on. Eva felt her stomach was churning with anxiety. Her whole life depended on what was being discussed behind the closed doors of the council.
If Taimur was designated as the Crown Prince there was not one in a million chance that he would be allowed to marry Eva. She laughed at her thought as if he was going to marry her.
Taimur wanted her but it was for the satisfaction of his carnal desires not because he loved her or wanted to settle down with her.
Maybe he will give her back his freedom and she would tell him she did like to spend the rest of her life with Taimur.Eva owed him an apology for how she had behaved with him yesterday. Maybe he would forgive her and would spend his life with her.
She had been thinking about the different scenarios for more than 2 hours when she realized she hadn't eaten anything since yesterday. And now she was feeling hungry.
She fixed herself a sandwich and came back to the lounge. She had drifted into sleep watching television.
Eva woke up from the sleep to find Taimur leaning on her looking at her face very carefully. Only a lamp was on in the lounge. Eva sat up with a jolt.
"When did you get back? I was so worried about you. Are you ok?" She asked Taimur.
Taimur leaned back and stood straight at the side of the sofa. He was very silent, his green eyes fixed on Eva. Eva started to get a feeling that something was not correct.
Taimur then turned away and walked towards the bedroom. He stopped for a moment and said without turning back, " I am going to the US tomorrow. I will drop you to your country on the way. It will be better if you start packing now", Taimur then strolled to the bedroom.
Eva was looking at his back in a state of shock. So, that was it? Taimur wanted her gone just like that?
Eva didn't know whether he was in the study, or any other room and she didn't even care. He didn't even bother to ask her what she wanted. At least she will be able to leave from here with her head held high.
She should have known he was never going to marry her. Why would he give up the Crown for a mere girl? He was a Prince and he might have had hundreds of girls like her. And she was stupid enough to believe that he had fallen in love with her.
They left his penthouse at 7 O'clock in the morning. The ride till the airport was without any conversation from both sides.
Riyadh was waiting at the airport runway beside the company aircraft monogrammed with the Al Jahaan initials. He had a look of surprise on his face when he saw Eva along with Taimur. Riyadh was going to accompany Taimur to the US.
They were served breakfast after half an hour. There was complete silence during the flight. Riyadh had tried to strike a conversation with Taimur but Taimur seemed uninterested.
After nearly six hours of their journey they landed into Eva's country. This was the worst flight of her life. She tried to take a nap but she couldn't sleep. Taimur was acting like she didn't exist. Riyadh avoided any conversation because of fear of Taimur.
When the Pilot informed them they had landed. Eva left her seat, she wanted to just leave from there without looking at any of the men. But she controlled her sudden urge of flight and turned and approached Riyadh.
"It was nice knowing you Riyadh, give my regards to Ayesha. Tell her I will keep in touch. All the best wishes for your marriage and future", Eva said while forwarding Riyadh her hand.
Riyadh shook her hand and said, " It was nice knowing you Eva. We both will miss you. You better stay in touch with Ayesha or she might come over here looking for you", He smiled but there was a touch of sadness in it.
Eva then turned to Taimur who was sitting opposite Riyadh. He had not risen from his seat like Riyadh did when he saw Eva approaching them.
"It was a pleasure knowing you Mr. Jahaan. I hope our paths never cross in future, my best wishes for your upcoming wedding", Eva didn't want to, but the words just blurted out from her mouth.
Taimur's hand lingered just a moment longer on her hand. Then he withdrew and said. " It was nice knowing you too Ms Smith. Yes, I do hope we never meet again", with these words he leaned back on his seat and turned to look outside the window, then he looked at her and said" Farewell Ms Smith"
"Farewell Mr. Jahaan", Eva said and turned towards the exit.
Eva tried to shut away the tears gathering in her eyes. Why the hell was he acting so cold, like they didn't spend the last one and half month making love but were complete strangers.
She was hurt, and this was not the first time this man had hurt her. He had been hurting and humiliating her since the first day they met. She was blind and idiot to think that he loved her.
She gave Riyadh a smile and walked to the door, she halted at the door for a second but didn't turn back. She knew she wouldn't be able to do this if she looked back. Taking a deep breath she came out of the aircraft and from his life forever.
