Flavian’s POV

I rushed into the police station and found the detective in the kitchen talking with other officers. I called Bonfim and we went to his office. I explained what had happened and watched his face freeze in shock.

"What a mess, Flavian!" Bonfim shook his head.

"A huge mess, Bonfim." I agreed.

"But it's going to get worse, much worse." I looked at him without understanding. "I talked to Melissa about twenty minutes ago, right after you sent me the message asking where I was."

"She called you?" I asked, already feeling panic rising inside me.

"No, I called her. I needed advice about a situation with my wife." Bonfim rubbed his eyes.

"And then? What did you talk about?" I asked, feeling my desperation growing.

"Well, she asked if you were on duty and I said no. Which means she knows you lied, and by now, your little one definitely knows too." This was a huge problem, and I felt my head spinning.

"Damn it, Bonfim!" I put both hands on my face, already thinking about the bomb that was about to explode. "This is going to be a disaster!"

"Don't blame me, I couldn't have known you were dealing with this mess." I knew he was right; the mistake was mine since I knew he and Melissa talked frequently. "The guys and I had been warning you that this would not end well. Now, imagine the chaos when Manu finds out about all this from someone else. Even worse, imagine if she goes home and finds Sabrina there. Man, then we might as well arrange your funeral!"

"Don't scare me, detective! But I know you're right. I know the mistake was mine, I should have called you. Damn! I should have told Manu a long time ago." I huffed and thought for a moment. "Now everything's ruined. She's going to leave me, Bonfim! She's going to leave me and I won't be able to handle it." Desperation took over me.

"Hey, Flavian! Calm down! Let's handle things carefully. First, we get rid of the woman in your apartment, then you try to explain things to Manu." Bonfim was absolutely right.

"True! Come with me, help me get Sabrina out of there, and then I'll think about how to explain everything to my little one. She can't find Sabrina in the apartment." I said, already heading toward the door.

"You got yourself tangled up in this lie, Flavian. It won't end well." Bonfim warned me, as he had been doing for a while, and I knew I should have listened to him sooner.

"I don't even know what to do anymore, Bonfim. But I know I have to get that tramp out of my house. And fast!" I said, feeling the desperation growing.
