NARRATOR'S POV
"How in the world did we swap phones?"
Lindy exclaims over the line sounding like it was the end of the world when she does not even have any single idea how many girls would want to be in her shoes right now. Firstly, Harry Styles called her. Secondly, she is talking to Harry Styles. Thirdly, she swapped phones with Harry Styles. And most importantly, she is still going to be talking more often with Harry freaking Styles.
She pulled herself out from her bed rapidly and begins to walk to and fro across her bedroom with her palm pressed against her forehead. She kept on thinking of ways on how the hell they swapped phones but she could only think about Nando's.
"Nando's is the root of all evil." She says over the phone making Harry laugh. "This is seriously not a funny thing to laugh about!"
Harry presses his lips together as he push his hair off his forehead, "I'm sorry. It's just that you sound..." He trailed off.
"I sound what?" Lindy quickly asked snappily.
"You sound really adorable when you're panicking." Harry answers with a smile on his face as he begins to board the plane on his way back to England.
Lindy gapes as she didn't like what she heard from him. "Adorable? Is this some kind of a joke to you? We swapped phones and that is totally not okay."
He groans as he sits over plane seat waiting for the other lads to arrive. "I don't know how often this situation happens to someone, maybe you just got lucky."
Lindy laughs humorlessly as she placed her hands over her hips, "Just got lucky? Are you being utterly serious right now? What's the luck in having your phone swapped with some stranger?"
Harry pauses while rubbing his chin with his finger, "You're right."
"Where are you now anyways?" Lindy asks, hoping the man she is talking to is still in Canada.
Harry sees Louis entering the plane looking like he just rolled out from his bed. He chuckles at Louis, "No sleep Lou?" he asked as he covers the phone with his huge hand.
Lindy's brows creasing, "Hello?" She calls out and hear all muffled words from the man;s background. "Hello???" She calls out again but no answer.
Louis groans as he takes his seat, "I stayed up late because I got busy playing videos games with Niall since we got back the hotel. I just fell asleep an hour ago when Liam came to my room waking the hell outta me." Harry chuckles as he glances at Niall who just arrived and looked much more worst than Louis. "The guy's dead." Louis adds.
"Hello! Is anyone still there? Am I still talking to someone?" Lindy keeps calling out but she only hears covered laughter and voices from the other line.
Harry pulled the phone back to his ear as he hear the female voice from the phone, "Hey, I'm sorry I was talking to someone." He said politely as he walks to the lavatory while looking over his shoulders back at Niall and Louis who are now trying to sleep on their chairs. "Where were we babe?" Harry asks as he enters the lavatory since he didn't want the others to know what he got himself into.
Lindy groans, "You have to be serious with this. I need to get my phone back from you! And will you please? Stop. Calling. Me. Babe!"
Harry feels the woman getting annoyed but still can't help teasing her since she does not know who he really was. "I apologize." He was quick to say. "I am serious too. I do need to get my phone back as well. What did you ask earlier?"
"I asked you where you are. Maybe we can meet up tomorrow and exchange our phones back."
Harry scratches the back of his neck, "Aw geez. I... I don't think I can tomorrow."
Lindy's face winced, "What?"
"Well babe I am at the airport now heading back to London."
Her mouth forms into a big O, "You're on a what heading to where?"
Harry stops himself from laughing again by pressing his forefinger over the line of his pressed lips. He lowered his head as he stares at his boots. "Yup." He answers while popping the p. Another annoying thing he's doing that Lindy's beginning to hate, "London." Harry adds.
"You can't leave with my phone with you!" She exclaims as she falls to her bed.
"Well I hate to leave my phone with you too but I have no choice." He answers as a matter-of-fact but a part of him kind of liked what he got himself into.
She sighed deeply as she scratched her hair repeatedly on the same spot. Lindy thinks thoroughly on how to get her phone from the man he has no idea who yet she knows heading to London would be too expensive and she does not have a penny for it. She remained silent and covered her face with her fist over her eyes.
"How come I just noticed this now that this isn't even my phone?" She moans sounding like she was about to cry which worries the softhearted Harry Styles.
"Are you crying?" He asks concernedly. "Don't worry. I will give your phone back."
Lindy did not answer and so Harry decided to call out, "Have you fallen asleep on me?"
"No." Lindy answers. "I'm just really sad how I didn't even check the phone as soon as I got it from Nando's. I would have the time to return it."
Harry nods because he didn't check the phone too and went to sleep the moment he got back to the hotel. "I thought the lads changed the wallpaper or Lou was pulling some pranks on me but when I saw the contacts, it really wasn't my mine."
She didn't listen to what he was saying and was thinking and worrying about what she's involved in right now. She's worried this might be some prank or some trick to get her kidnapped even though it made no sense how she came up with that conclusion.
"When are you coming back?" she asked without minding what he was saying to her.
"I'll be back a week or two."
"A what?!" She exclaimed.
"I said about a week or--"
"A week is too long enough, you need to be back. ASAP." She instructed him.
"Or a few months."
Lindy leans over her knees with her left hand holding her head. "I think I'm getting a headache thinking about that." She says to him.
"I'm sorry dear but I'm a busy man." Harry answers truthfully though he also wants his phone back but he has no choice.
He knows his schedule is ready and all set weeks from the present time and he cant just slip in a little phone exchange in his busy celebrity life which is always fully booked for appointments, shows, [pictorials, interviews and promotions. Even if he can ask someone to go back to Canada to get his phone from this lady with a sweet adorable voice, he would not let anyone do it but him. He's been taught well in the industry that it's hard to trust someone and that he can only depend on himself because people around him are only after him for his fame and money.
"I feel like the whole world is crumbling beneath my feet." She sounded annoying to him now as he exists the lavatory doing nothing but just standing there.
He stands away from the others who have now boarded the plane. Lindy keeps hitting her forehead and feels like she wanted to cry as she remained silent. Harry stands by the lavatory, leaning his back against the wall.
"Still there babe?" He asked, awkwardly while scratching the back of his head, glancing at the flight attendant who is now giving neck pillows to Louis.
"I already told you to stop calling me babe! It's annoying. I'm not a pet!" She cries out.
Harry smiles at himself with his head lowered a little bit. He hasn't found a woman who's feisty like the woman in the other line. He knows that if it were other ladies being called babe, they would love it and they would fall for it but it didn't have any effect to her. He found her amusing with how she rants and yells at him so easily just like that, treating him more human and not as a damn celebrity. He was still hesitant that she didn't know him but he knows well enough that no girl in the world would dare to ever yell at him aside from his own mother or sister.
"No. I hate to say this but I;m afraid I can't stop calling you that, babe." He grins as he teases as he walks back to his chair to sit down.
"You might need to turn off your phone now sir because we are going to take off now." The flight attendant tells Harry professionally.
He nods, "Alright. I'll just finish this call. Thanks."
She smiles at Harry before walking away. Lindy overheard it and she knows that she has nothing left to do but let the man she just knew take care of her phone for her sake. Harry covers the phone with his hand as he whispers to Lindy, "I'll call you back when I land babe."
"Hey you didn't--"
He ended the call right before she could say anything to him.
"-Even tell me your name." She continued. Sighing at herself.
She glanced at her watch, it was almost 3AM and worried at how she would fall back to sleep knowing that her phone was swapped by a strange who is heading to London.
"How can I be so careless? I've never been careless! How in the world did I have his phone instead of mine? How can I be in such a bad luck?" She mumbled to herself.
She groans as she lays over her bed. "Even the thought of him touching my phone makes me hate him! Even more when he calls me babe!" She pulled her blanket and placed his phone down on the drawer beside her bed and fell back to sleep.
On the other hand, Harry grabbed his little notebook out and his pen since he had words that popped into his head out of nowhere that he didn't want to forget so he wrote it down as fast as he could before it disappears.
Making little conversations so long I've been waiting so let go of myself and feel alive
As soon as Lindy heard her alarm clock go crazy, she hurriedly turned it off and pulled herself out from the mattress. It was already six in the morning and she realized that she hasn't had enough sleep because of her constant thoughts on her swapped phones with a male stranger. She stretched her arms out before she folded and fixed her bed sheets then went to take a shower.
After a while, Lindy got into her clothes, placed her books inside her bag while carrying Avery's done homework on her hands. Lindy headed to Avery's room and Lindy knows that her evil twin will do or say something that will hurt her ego even if it's still too early in the morning. She's ready for Avery's words though.
Knock knock knock
"Avery. Here are your books." Lindy calls out but there was no answer.
Knock knock knock knock knock louder this time.
