CHAPTER 45
OPPORTUNITY
LINDY'S POV
The following morning, I was obviously running late for class and I didn't want to miss my exam today even though I didn't study much for it last night. I took two cups of coffee earlier to make sure I would stay wide awake during the test. I don't know where I am getting all this energy from when I only slept for four hours last night. I ran to my classroom and luckily arrived on time as I was panting trying to catch my breath. I hate it when my first subject has an exam.
The exam started quickly when the teacher entered our room and he qickly handed out the test papers. As soon as I stared at the paper, I don't know what to answer this exam at all. My mind is only thinking about Harry Styles, ice skating rink, Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik and Paul Higgins and I was sure they were not the answers to this test. I haven't studied well last night, I just reviewed my notes half awake and half asleep this morning in the bus.
When the exam was done, I headed to my next class and I don't know how I managed to answer that exam but I am just happy it's done. I stretched my arms out and yawned along the hallways feeling all sleepy and awfully tired. Did I regret going out last night? No. I mean how could I regret every single thing that I did last night when I enjoyed my time with One Direction.
By lunch, I was eating on my table alone again and I think Harry must still be asleep because he hasn't texted me yet. Suddenly, Martha popped out of nowhere making me jump on my seat before she sat down beside me.
"Guess what." she says with a smile as if she has something interesting to tell me and I am sure it is related to boys again because I know that smile.
"Uhhh, what?" I asked.
"I have been really really busy."
I smiled.
"Like really busy." She adds making me laugh but she sounded so serious. I wonder what she has been getting busy with lately.
"And why is that?" I asked.
"Well, I was trying to leave my phone at Nando's a lot of times this week to meet some guy like yours." she started.
I gaped, "No you didn't?"
"I did, sister!"
"So that was the reason why you've been busy this week?" I tried not to laugh.
"Let me finish." She insists. "When I got my phone back just the other day, this guy texted me! He was really sweet and funny, when I came to meet him up yesterday, he was... guess who?" she looked so giggly with a grin.
"Uhh, Niall Horan?" I asked.
She laughs dryly, "I hope it was him. But sadly not. It was a handsome guy that turned out to be British who turned out to be a waiter at Nando's!" she exclaimed.
I chuckled deeply because she seemed very hapy, "And?" I asked.
"He's SUPER DUPER my type. But he's a waiter. I can't date waiters."
"But is he hot?"
"He sure is!"
"Then why not? Try to date him. At least he's earning a living."
"You think I should give it a try?"
I nodded.
"Fine. I will. Since it's Friday today I'm going to ask him out." She blurted.
"You're the one who's gonna ask him out?" I asked.
"Yeah. Duhh, it's the 21st century Lindy. Demure women are bye-bye now. Time to set our game."
Later that day, Martha's words kept going round and round in my head about her asking a date to that waiter from Nando's and reminded me that it was okay to ask men for a date. As soon as I arrived home with my phone on my hand texting to Harry, I saw mom and dad packing their things and I worried so I paused. "Uhh, what's going on?" I asked while standing on the foyer.
"Your aunt Anna died of stroke yesterday." Dad answers.
"What?" I gaped.
"We're going out of town this week." Dad informs me.
"Avery! Hurry up down here!" mom yelled at the foot of the stairs.
Avery grabbed her luggage and walked down the stairs with a gloomed face and she clearly didn't want to go with them. "I don't get it why I'm going with you guys and Lindy is staying." Avery mumbled angrily while she was so busy dragging her luggage.
I snapped. "Wait, I'm not going with you?"
"You need to look after the house honey." Dad said.
"That is so not fair!" Avery whines loudy.
"If we would let you stay behind instead of Lindy, your dad and I will surely know that you are going to throw a party." Mom answers her and I can agree to that too.
"Will you be okay all by yourself?" Dad asked looking at me worriedly but they know how responsible I am when it comes to this family. Between me and Avery I was more mature and more responsible.
I nodded and even though I know that my aunt just died, I can't help but feel happy thinking that this would be a great opportunity to invite Harry and the others in here. No, Lindy this is not the perfect time to think about that for now. Don't be so selfish.
"We need to get going now before the night comes. Here's some money. We'll be back Sunday morning honey." Mom tells me while kissing my hair.
"Take care mom and dad." I responded.
They walked to the foyer and headed out of the front door while Avery kept stomping her feet and complaining. I stared at them while putting their things on the trunk as for Avery she got inside the backseat being so disappointed to be going with them instead of staying here with me.
"Lock the doors honey and NO partying without us. You hear me?" dad hollered loud after shutting the trunk.
I smiled. "Dad, I don't like parties and you know that. Don't worry, I'll be fine alone. Have a safe drive. Love you." I answered as I wave at my family.
Dad finally got inside the car and drove away. I closed the front door and stared at the inside of our house and realized that I'm gonna be alone for the entire weekend. The house is all mine.
I smiled at the thought that the house is all mine.
I pulled my phone out.
I'm home alone the entire weekend just so you know ;) -Lindy
I sent a text to Harold and headed up to my room to change.
Really? Is that an invitation baby? Because it sounded like it. -Harold
I chuckle as I type my reply.
Wanna spend the weekend with me? I'm all yours babe ;) -Lindy
I tease him while biting my lower lip.
