Chapter 328 

Alex spoke up. Seeing that Ellie was still leaning against the windowsill without moving, he tentatively reached out and gently pulled her arm. Finally, Ellie reacted. 

She slowly straightened up, subtly avoiding Alex’s touch. 

“Did that touch your arm?” They stood just a step apart, Alex towering over Ellie, his gaze fixed on her expression. 

“Mr. Warren, my son is injured. I’m in no mood to talk to you, nor do I have anything to say.” Ellie stood by the window, her eyes downcast, and a faint expression on her pale face. 

The atmosphere grew heavy. Alex stood rooted to the spot, silent. He stared at Ellie for a long moment before finally speaking, “Actually-” 

As Alex hesitated, about to explain, his phone suddenly rang, interrupting him. He glanced at the caller ID and hung up. Just as he was about to speak again, the phone rang again. This time, he hung up with a hint of annoyance in his voice. 

“My baby finally fell asleep. Please go outside to take that, Mr. Warren.” When Alex’s phone rang for the third time, Ellie finally spoke, her tone dismissive. She glanced at the caller ID on his phone and then left the balcony. 

“Ellie.” Alex caught her wrist. 

“It’s Dr. Thompson to you, Mr. Warren,” Ellie stopped, correcting him slowly and deliberately. 

Alex loosened his grip on Ellie’s wrist and left the ward without looking back. Ellie watched him storm off, her expression unreadable as she looked away. 

Inside the Earl Hotel’s private club, Layton arrived to find Alex already several drinks in. 

“You’re a real piece of work, you know that? My wife chewed me out because of you. I must have owed you a debt in a past life.” Layton entered and told the waiter at the door to take away all the alcohol. 

After the door to the private room closed, Layton took a seat on the sofa opposite Alex and lit a cigarette. “Even if you manage to scrub it from the internet, everyone in the industry knows. When did you hook up with that celebrity?” 

Layton stared at Alex, waiting for an answer. Alex rubbed his tired brow, leaning back against the sofa. He took a drag from his cigarette and fiddled with his phone. 

Seeing Alex’s silence, Layton’s expression turned serious. “Don’t tell me you’re serious about this.” 

Alex took a long drag from his cigarette. Lost in thought, he remained silent. Layton couldn’t help but worry. While no one dared to confirm whether the two children with Ellie were actually Alex’s, it was clear to anyone who cared to look. 

Ellie, emboldened by the fact that Alex’s parents wouldn’t dare acknowledge the children for fear of upsetting him, was raising them right under their noses. 

Alex, his memories of Ellie completely erased, saw her as nothing more than a widow and her children as burdens that had nothing to do with him. 

*Alex, what do you really think of Ellie?” Layton asked. He wouldn’t be able to sleep tonight if he didn’t get to the bottom of this. 

“What can I possibly think of her? She’s a widow with two kids.” Alex’s casual remark seemed to come out of nowhere. 

“You look down on her because she’s married and had children?” Layton asked. 

Alex scoffed. “How dare I look down on her? She might be a widow with two kids, but she’s much prouder than I am.” 

He remembered the day he kindly offered Ellie a bracelet, only to be rejected. She had even walked away angrily. Alex couldn’t help but sound 

sarcastic. 

“You’re right. I heard your aunt was so worried that she went to a matchmaking event for you.” Layton nodded seriously. 

“Mr. Warren, the Warren Manor called. They want you to go back now.” Barry knocked on the door and entered. Alex took out his cigarette and got

Forty minutes later, at the Warren Manor. 

Alex had just entered the door when Nancy slapped him hard. He covered his face in shock, completely caught off guard. 

“Mom, if you have something to say, say it. Why are you hitting me?” He covered his face and walked to the living room.

3:22 PM 

Chapter 328 

Todd pointed at his youngest son, his hand trembling with anger. “You scoundrel. Look what you’ve done.” Alex lowered his head and stared at the video playing on a loop on his father’s phone. 

The video showed him shielding Deborah from the onrushing fans. At the other end of the crowd, Ellie was kneeling on the ground, protecting her son with her own body, letting others trample and shove her. 

Alex’s breath hitched in his chest, his gaze tightening involuntarily. He knew that Ellie and her son had been hurt that night, but seeing this video, the contrast was stark and undeniable. 

He could no longer hear what his parents were yelling at him. His eyes and ears were filled with the scene replaying endlessly on the phone’s screen. 

“Come back here!” Nancy stamped her foot in anger as she watched her youngest son dash out of the house. 

Late at night, lying in bed next to her son, Ellie stared into the darkness, unable to sleep. Several parts of her body ached. She knew she was hurt but not seriously. As she lay there, her heart was filled with guilt. 

She told herself over and over again that it was her fault for not taking good care of her child, for not protecting her son and herself. It had nothing to do with anyone else. 

This went on until the latter part of the night. Unable to sleep with her mind racing, she got up and went to the balcony for some air. 

She didn’t know how long she’d been standing on the balcony when a strong smell of alcohol suddenly reached her. Ellie turned around just as a pair of strong arms pulled her into an embrace. 

The balcony light was off, the only light came from the moon outside the window. Ellie was caught off guard by the hug and familiar scent. Realizing it was Alex, she struggled to break free. “Mr. Warren, you’re drunk.” 

“Does it hurt?” Alex stumbled forward again after being pushed away by Ellie. 

Ellie dodged him, afraid to make too much noise and woke up her son. Seeing Alex’s unreasonable state, Ellie took a deep breath and coaxed him, “Let’s go outside if you have something to say.” 

“Don’t try to fool me.” Alex took a step closer, grabbed Ellie’s hands, and pressed her against the wall on the balcony. He leaned his tall and slender body against her, his tongue tied, “You were the one who made me angry first.” 

Ellie was trapped in Alex’s arms in the most ambiguous posture, unable to break free, and could only try to soften him up, “Let go of me first, and 

let’s talk it over.” 

Thinking back to what happened at the restaurant that day, Ellie sighed. He didn’t remember anything, so she shouldn’t have argued with him. 

“Now you want to talk nicely to me? What about when I tried to talk to you, and you ignored me?” Alex complained. 

The bracelet I gave you that diamond is worth over 60 million. Do you even know what’s good?” Alex released Ellie with a sway. Just as she was about to push him away, he buried his head in the crook of her neck, refusing to let her go. 

“Mr. Warren, you’re a man of your word. You said it was a gift, so of course I believed you.” Ellie’s back was against the wall, her waist about to break from Alex pressing against her.. 

“You believe everything I say? Then do you believe me when I say I like you?” Alex mumbled, his head still buried in the crook of Ellie’s neck. Ellie’s hand, which was about to push Alex away, froze. 

“It’s nothing between me and Deborah. I’m just trying to get a rise out of you for ignoring me.” Alex buried his face in Ellie’s neck, nuzzling her as he found a comfortable position. 

“Ellie, go out with me.” Alex slowly released Ellie and looked down at her. “Don’t reject me because I’ve been in jail or because I’m older. I won’t hold your past against you.” 

Ellie looked up, meeting Alex’s eyes, wondering if he was really drunk. “Even though I’ve been married before, I’m not looking to settle. Besides money, Mr. Warren, what else do you have to offer?” 

“I have this. Alex stretched out his legs and took off his jacket. “Fair skin, handsome face, long legs.” 

Ellie strongly suspected that this dog of a man was pretending to be drunk just to mess with her. 

“Then tell me your bank account password first, Ellie teased deliberately. 

Alex pulled his legs back. “I won’t show my hand until I’m sure of the prize. When you become my woman, you’ll know everything.” 

“Then stand still. I have something to show you.” As soon as Ellie finished speaking, Alex stood up straight.

Chapter 328 

He swayed from side to side and asked Ellie, “Am I well–behaved?” 

Ellie said. “Yes” 

Alex stepped forward and suddenly cupped the back of Ellie’s head, leaning down for a kiss. Ellie was caught off guard by the sudden move. By the time she reacted. Alex had already released her. 

“A reward” Alex’s breathing was heavy, his chest rising and falling noticeably. He licked his lips, his gaze towards Ellie both suggestive and amberrous 

Elle tarned and entered the ward, pulling out the largest silver needle. She beckoned Alex over, and without warning, plunged the needle into his acupuncture point. Immediately, a thud echoed as Alex collapsed to the ground. 

Ellie kicked him in frustration. “That’s your reward for showing up here drunk in the middle of the night.”
