Chapter 329
Ellie glanced at the time and walked towards the door, intending to call for someone to carry Alex away. However, the memory of the forced kiss flashed in her mind, and she spun back around in a huff.
Dawn would break in two or three hours. He was tough; lying on the floor for a few hours shouldn’t be a problem.
Alex’s upper body lay on the balcony, his lower half in the ward, his entire body sprawled beneath the curtain separating the room from the corridor.
Ellie bent down and brought his splayed legs together, then drew the curtain. Noticing his exposed legs, she simply shrugged and left him be.
Turning around, she noticed a red ring on her finger. She took it off, placed it under the lamp for closer inspection, and observed the olive–shaped solitaire diamond. At least ten carats, she reckoned; it was undeniably valuable.
After thinking for a while, Ellie turned around and stuffed the bracelet into Alex’s coat pocket.
He plays the hero and protects the big star when it matters, but then he gets drunk and comes here to act like a fool. I’m doing him a favor by pricking him.
Ellie lay back on the hospital bed and turned off the light. After a whole night of turmoil, she didn’t know when she fell asleep. She was awakened by some movement in the ward in the morning.
“Mom, aunt.” Seeing her mother and aunt enter the ward, Ellie quickly checked the time. It was almost eight o’clock.
“It was too late last night, so we didn’t come over. We just sent the kids to school this morning. We come and see you and Oscar.” Whitney’s voice was very soft, afraid of waking up the child.
She bent over to check Oscar’s injuries, her heart aching. “Ellie, how are you?”
Joanna pulled Ellie to stand by the bed, her heart aching with blame. “I told you to leave the children with me, but you insisted on taking care of them yourself. How can it be convenient to take two children with you everywhere you go?”
“That’s right, we are both at home, and we could take care of the children. We won’t mistreat them if you leave them with us.” Whitney came over, trying to take the opportunity to persuade Ellie to leave her two children in their care.
“Mom, Aunt Whitney, last night was just an accident. I’ll be more careful in the future.” Ellie understood what her mother and aunt meant, but she still insisted on keeping the children by her side.
As the three were talking, Alex’s parents knocked on the door and came in. Seeing them, Joanna and Whitney’s expressions changed slightly.
“Auntie Nancy, why are you here so early in the morning?” Ellie walked up to them politely and greeted.
*Ellie, are you and the child badly hurt?” Nancy forced herself to speak. She came to the bedside and looked at Oscar, who was still sleeping. She was both excited and distressed.
She had never been so close to the two children before. Now that she had a closer look, she realized that this boy looked exactly like her own son when he was little.
Nancy swallowed all her words, not daring to say a word. Five years ago, her son almost died for Ellie, but even so, Ellie didn’t forgive him.
For the sake of her son’s normal life, she chose to erase all memories of Ellie from his brain. Five years later, she thought her son finally had a chance, but who knew such a thing would happen again.
“Ellie!” Lacey trotted in, followed by Mark. “That jerk Alex deserves to die! Not only did he cheat on you with another woman, but he also hurt you and your son. What a bastard!”
Lacey stopped in her tracks when she realized that Alex’s parents were standing in the ward. She let out two awkward laughs. Lacey looked at Mark for help. Mark smiled indulgently, pulled Lacey to his side, and greeted everyone one by one,
“It’s my fault for not disciplining my child well. It has nothing to do with anyone else.” Ellie stated the facts objectively.
“Ellie, you must be very busy with work. I’m free at home anyway. Let me take care of the child for you. Just treat it as atonement for my son, Nancy said. Ellie immediately refused, “No need. I can do it.”
Nancy wanted to say something else, but Joanna said, “I’m also free at home. I’ll take care of the child. Please don’t bother, Mrs. Warren.”
“Joanna,” Nancy said helplessly, looking at her husband. Todd sighed and patted his wife’s shoulder comfortingly. He thought, “There’s nothing we can do if our son doesn’t want to improve.
Lacey screamed in the ward, knocked on the floor by something. As she struggled to get up, she suddenly felt a hand, which made her scream

again.
“Lacey,” Mark said as he helped her up and stepped back to the end of the bed. Everyone gathered around and saw two long legs sticking out from under the curtain.
Whitney and Joanna exchanged glances, then looked at Ellie, who pursed her lips awkwardly without speaking. She almost forgot that there was someone else in her ward.
Nancy took a closer look at the two legs and found them familiar. She pulled her husband closer, opened the curtain, and they both shut their mouths.
Lacey exclaimed, patting her chest. “Such a big guy lying here quietly, I thought he was dead.”
Lacey’s words startled Alex’s parents. They quickly crouched down and checked their son’s breathing.
Lacey’s scream woke Aaron from his sound sleep. Seeing her son awake, Ellie hurried to the bedside.
“Ellie, why is he here?” Whitney asked with a frown, remembering the video she saw last night.
“He drank too much and probably went to the wrong ward,” Ellie said indifferently, holding her son and sitting on the edge of the bed.
Lacey asked. “So you just let him lie on the ground all night?”
Alex’s parents glanced at each other but remained silent.
Mark walked to the door and called in two medical staff from the hallway to take Alex for a checkup. Just as they lifted him onto the gurney, Alex woke up.
Rubbing his throbbing temples, Alex forced himself to sit up. He looked around the ward and his eyes fell on Ellie. “Why am I here?”
You were drunk and went to the wrong ward.” Ellie carefully checked her son’s injured hand without looking at him.
Alex looked at the other people in the ward and walked over to his parents. “Mom, Dad, why are you here too?” Furious, Todd turned and left. After greeting everyone, Nancy also left.
‘I’ll go get my grandson something to eat.” Joanna left the ward with a sullen face.
“I’ll go with you.” Whitney glared at Alex and left with Joanna.
Alex stood in the ward, feeling guilty. He kept sneaking glances at Ellie.
“You’re sober now. Why are you still here if you’re not leaving?” Lacey came over to Alex and stood on a chair to talk to him. “Before, you hurt Ellie so badly for that bitch, Haley. Now it’s for-
“Lacey, Ellie panicked and stopped her. Lacey realized that she had said the wrong thing, so she quickly covered her mouth with her hands. Mark picked Lacey up from the chair and carried her away.
