Chapter 130
Chapter 130
Then Franklin’s younger brother, Yancy’s voice came from outside:
“Sister–in–law, I heard you were sick. Are you feeling better now?”
Franklin hadn’t spoken yet when Franklin interjected, “Come in.”
The door had been left open earlier as people had been coming and going from the room.
Hearing Franklin’s voice, Yancy walked in from outside, first greeting Franklin, “Brother.”
Franklin responded with a simple, “Hmm.”
Yancy’s gaze then fell on Maggie. Though the two hadn’t interacted much, he knew she wasn’t entirely sure how to engage with him. Maggie took the initiative, saying, “I’m feeling much better now.”
Yancy scratched his head awkwardly, “Oh, that’s… good to hear.”
Maggie smiled gently. “Have you not been back here for a while?”
“Yeah… I missed the food here, so I came back for a bit. As soon as I got back, Grandma mentioned you were running a fever.”
At this moment, Grandma Wilson came upstairs. Seeing that Maggie’s complexion had improved, she seemed more at ease. “The kitchen’s finished preparing the soup.
Mr. Stanley said you can have some now. Would you prefer to come downstairs and have it, or should Frank bring it up to
you?”
Maggie hadn’t eaten much earlier and didn’t have much of an appetite. Feeling a little stifled staying in her room, she decided to join Grandma Wilson and the others downstairs.
Once downstairs, Yancy asked, “Where’s Isabella?”
Grandma Wilson replied, “She ate a little earlier but couldn’t drink much. I’ll have her drink a bit more later.”
After sitting down, Maggie accepted the soup the butler handed her and began sipping it slowly, cooling it with gentle breaths.
Franklin sat next to her, but his phone buzzed with a message. Perhaps trying to prevent her from seeing the screen, he shifted slightly away and began replying to the message.
Maggie noticed but said nothing, continuing to drink her soup quietly.
Grandma Wilson frowned, “Can’t it wait until after the soup?”
“It’ll just take a minute,” Franklin replied.
The bowl of soup was quickly finished.
“Would you like some more?” Grandma Wilson asked.

Maggie shook her head and stood up. “No, thank you. I’m full
Even though Franklin had slightly turned away, as she rose, Maggie caught a glimpse of his phone screen. He seemed to te texting Julia, discussing some project matters,
Sensing that she might have noticed, Franklin moved further away,
Maggie, however, had already withdrawn her gaze, walking to the living room and picking up a newspaper to read.
A short while later, Yancy came over with a plate of freshly washed fruit, offering her some,
Maggie looked up. “No, thank you. You can have it.”
Looking up, she saw that Franklin had already left the dining room, his phone still in hand, as he made his way upstairs. She withdrew her gaze again.
Yancy sat down next to her and glanced at her a couple of times. Noticing this, Maggie asked, “What is it?”
“Well, my brain isn’t as sharp as you or my brother’s when it comes to studying, you know? I’ve got a few physics problems I
can’t solve…”
Maggie blinked, but before she could respond, Yancy continued, “I wanted to ask my brother for help, but he said he was busy and told me to ask you instead.”
Maggie paused for a moment, then took his test papers without a word.
Yancy was a decent student with a solid foundation. After Maggie looked over his papers and explained the thought process for a few problems, he quickly understood.
“Wow, you’re amazing, sister–in–law! Thank you!”
After understanding the problems, Yancy haphazardly gathered his papers and pens, exclaiming, “Finally, I can play on my phone!”
Maggie chuckled softly, setting aside the newspaper she had nearly finished. Feeling a bit more refreshed, she thought about heading upstairs to grab a book to pass the time.
Yancy leaned over, whispering, “Sister–in–law, my idol participated in another car race recently. She was even cooler this time! I’ve got the video. Want to watch?”
Maggie froze for a moment, her smile fading slightly. “No, thanks. I’m not really into car racing.”
“Really?” Yancy looked surprised, thinking she’d be interested. “But that day, you were watching with binoculars for so long. I thought you liked it too…”
Maggie replied calmly, “I saw a few acquaintances that day.”
“Oh…” Seeing her lack of interest, Yancy didn’t push it. He turned back to rewatch Julia’s race footage. “I really miss her. She didn’t participate in this race, and who knows when I’ll see her again, sigh…”
Maggie stood up, saying, “I’m going upstairs to get a book.”

Chapter 130
“Okay, sister–in–law! Even though you’re feeling better, you should still get plenty of rest!”
Mm, I will.” With that, Maggie went upstairs.
Upon returning to her room, she noticed that the book Franklin had taken earlier was now on the desk. She picked it up and placed it back in her bag.
Whenever she stayed here overnight, she’d usually bring one or two books along.
Searching through the room, she couldn’t find anything else she wanted to read and thought it might be in Isabella’s room. She
turned to head over there.
Isabella’s door was open.
Before she reached the room, she heard Isabella’s cheerful voice, “Aunt Julie, I’m so bored! Can you keep me company for a
bit?”
Maggie paused mid–step.
A few seconds later, Isabella spoke again, her tone playful, “I’ll drink the soup soon. Don’t worry, Aunt Julie.”
Leaning against the wall, Maggie let out a soft cough, her throat still a bit sore. She then entered the room.
Isabella noticed her. She was lying on the bed, her legs playfully kicking in the air. Seeing her mother, she got up. “Mom, why are you out of your room?”
“Just came to get a book,” Maggie said evenly.
Isabella grabbed her hand. “Great–grandma said the soup’s ready. Are you coming down with me to drink some?”
Maggie gently pulled her hand back. “I already had some. You go ahead.”
Isabella, still in high spirits from her phone call, didn’t notice anything unusual about her mother’s demeanor. “Alright then I’ll head downstairs now!”
Maggie nodded. “Mm.”

Alguém saberia dizer o que houve com o livro, sem atualização a tempos...
Nada de episódio novo?...
Does the book stop? When are we going to get a new chapter?...
Olá, A história parou no capítulo 288? O nome do livro me gerou mais expectativas, quando ela realmente vai desprezar os dois e brilhar???...
Everytime I read new updates I am hoping to see Maggie completely moving on with her life not always checking where Franklin is up to with Julia. I think everyone reading this story by now understand that Franklin doesn't care about Julia. So what is the point of always pointing out how indifferent Franklin is to Maggie and how attentive he is towards Julia....
What does Helen mean Maggie is still married? Married to whom? Franklin has made it clear that he doesn't consider her anything and is flaunting his relationship with Julia for anyone who has eyes to witness it.So Maggie should wait for the divorce to be finalized to date. Isn't that double standards. And Franklin is dragging the divorce deliberately since divorced or not he does what he wants without any consequences. Really women are emotionally oppressed even authors only know that point of view 😕...
I feel sad for Maggie and all married women who have to endure emotional abuse with no end in sight. By the look of it,Franklin doesn't want to divorce Maggie for whatever reason. Either the reason is good or bad, Maggie shouldn't be humiliated like this just because she loves him. And the grandmother should be helping her get a divorce not emotionally blackmailing her, if she really cared about her. Franklin is using Maggie's love for the grandmother to abuse her. Is really loving people wrong? Author this one-sided hurt is not right. Let Maggie move on with dignity. It shouldn't end up with Franklin professing his love for her and her accepting it....
