When Franklin reached out his hand, Maggie had no choice but to hand him the flowers she was holding. She didn’t look at Levi or Harry but walked over to Old Madam Wilson’s bed and asked, “How are you feeling now?” 

“It still hurts a little, but it’s manageable,” Old Madam Wilson replied, already looking a bit tired after the surgery. 

She reached out and grabbed Maggie’s hand. “You’ve worked all day. Are you tired? Have you eaten? Why don’t you stay and have dinner with Frank and the others?” 

Maggie replied, “No need, Grandma. I ate at the office before coming over.” 

Seeing that Maggie was still maintaining her distance from Franklin, Old Madam Wilson paused for a moment, but didn’t insist further. 

Maggie chatted with her for a while longer. When Old Madam Wilson seemed too tired and needed to rest, Maggie prepared to leave. 

Old Madam Wilson asked Franklin to see her off, and since the others were planning to go for dinner, they all went downstairs together. 

In the elevator, Maggie noticed that Levi was staring at her with an inquisitive look. She turned her head and coldly said, “Have you seen enough?” 

Levi was momentarily stunned. “…Almost.” 

Maggie ignored him and walked out of the elevator first. Franklin and the others followed her. 

Seeing that Maggie was about two to three steps ahead, Levi leaned towards Franklin and lowered his voice, “Her attitude towards you has really changed a lot. Could it be that she’s really moved on from you? But… I just don’t believe it.” 

Franklin looked at Maggie’s retreating figure without responding. 

Harry, not having heard their conversation clearly, asked, “What did you say?” 

Levi repeated what he’d just said to Harry. 

Harry, like Franklin, remained silent, watching Maggie’s back as she walked ahead.

When they reached the hospital entrance, Franklin called out to Maggie’s back, “Isabella is at Miller’s house.” 

Maggie hesitated for a moment but didn’t say anything. She walked toward the parking lot. 

Just then, she noticed that Julia was still there. 

When Julia saw them coming out, she walked a couple of steps toward them. 

Maggie didn’t even glance at her and headed straight for her car, while Franklin, Harry, and Levi walked toward Julia. 

Maggie got into her car and drove off without paying any attention to what the others were doing. 

She drove back to Miller’s house. 

When she arrived, Isabella, who had been playing with Xavier and Hugo, looked up and said, “Mom, you’re back?” 

Maggie closed the door behind her, shutting out the cold air. She took off her coat and replied, “Mm.” 

Isabella put down her tablet and ran over to hug her leg, saying, “Mom, Dad said I can stay with you for the next two days. Tomorrow morning, after we visit Grandma at the hospital, can we go skiing?” 

Before Maggie could answer, Xavier and Hugo chimed in, “Yes, cousin, let’s all go together.” 

Maggie sighed softly, then said, “…Okay.” 

Isabella beamed. “I’ll call Dad and let him know!” 

With that, she grabbed her phone and dialed Franklin. 

Maggie didn’t listen to their conversation and went upstairs. 

The Next Morning 

When they arrived at the hospital the next day, Maggie didn’t see Julia, but it seemed that Franklin had brought his work to the hospital with him. 

When she and Isabella entered the room, Franklin was busy with some documents. 

Isabella shouted, “Dad!”

Franklin didn’t respond immediately, but Isabella noticed the table beside him was filled with fruits, pastries, and drinks that young people and children loved. 

She excitedly ran over and exclaimed, “Wow, so much good food! And bubble tea!” 

“Mm,” Franklin replied. “I had them prepare this when I knew you’d be coming.” 

While speaking, he glanced at Maggie. When he saw that she was ignoring him, he shifted his gaze to 

Hugo and Xavier, nodding to them before standing up. “Sit.” 

Franklin had an overwhelming presence. After greeting Old Madam Wilson, Hugo and Xavier followed him without hesitation, sitting down with Isabella and enjoying the food she and Franklin had handed to 

them. 

After the kids had started eating, Franklin handed something to Maggie. “Want to try?” 

Seeing that Old Madam Wilson was looking, Maggie reluctantly accepted and said, “Thank you.” 

She took a sip, only to realize it was a strawberry–flavored drink that was perfectly to her liking. 

Learning that they were going skiing, Old Madam Wilson said to Franklin, “Tingshen, you should go with 

Mag and the kids. Skiing is such a dangerous activity, and it would be too tiring for her to manage three 

kids by herself. 

You should go help her. I have the housekeeper and Aunt Garner to take care of me, so you don’t need to 

stay here with me.” 

Maggie was about to say something, but Franklin spoke up first, “Got it.” 

Isabella, thrilled to know Franklin was also going, said excitedly, “Yay! Dad is coming too!” 

After a while, when they were about to leave the hospital, Franklin finished tidying up the table and followed Maggie and the others out of the ward. 

They drove in two cars. Isabella, Hugo, and Xavier were in Maggie’s car. 

When they arrived at the ski resort, Franklin helped Isabella adjust her clothes and ski goggles. At that moment, his phone rang. 

He walked a little further away to answer the call. After a brief conversation, he said, “I’ll be there later.” 

Isabella asked, “Dad, who was that on the phone?”
