Freya

I slumped on the floor when Titus left along with his Dad. I couldn't believe my life would take such a turn that I will find and lose my mate in a span of a couple of hours. Tears started flowing out of my eyes with an intensity like never before.

I felt like someone ripped my heart out of my body. It was getting difficult for me to breathe. I never had thought parting from someone I had met not more than an hour ago could prove this painful. The urge to burn down everything started to arise in me with a fierceness that I had never experienced before. I felt like my body was getting hotter with each passing second.

The pain of parting with my mate was unbearable, there was nothing I wanted to do right now than to die or destroy the whole world. I felt a pressure on my shoulder, "Freya," I turned and looked over to find my Dad standing behind me.

"I am sorry," his voice held indescribable pain," I am sorry, I couldn't do anything for you," he pressed my shoulder again.

Dad leaned and wiped the tears from my cheek and I turned and hugged him, making him kneel on the floor in front of me, " Why me Dad? Why does it have to be me?" I asked sobbing.

"Shh, sweetie, everything is going to be fine," Dad rubbed my back with his hand.

Nothing was helping me, nothing was comforting me not even my father's touch. The pain was multiplying with each passing second, "He will never come back Dad, his father won't let him come back ever. Did you see the way he was looking at me, full of disgust and hatred? Xander Creswell will never allow Titus to choose me as his Luna," the intensity of my sobs had only increased.

"Titus will come back Freya, I know he will. You will have to be strong for him and for yourself. Life is never a bed of roses, it will throw many hardships at you, but you can't give up. You will have to fight for your mate, for your love."

Dad was trying to comfort me, but all his efforts were going into vain because there was no lessening to the pain I was going through, "I can't, daddy," I tried suppressing the cry of pain.

"You can, Freya, you are stronger than you know. You just have to believe in yourself, fate has planned something great for you, what you need is to embrace yourself," He brushed his fingers in my hair.

"I want to burn down the whole world, Daddy," I lifted my head from his chest and looked at him.

I had never seen Dad broken before today, but now he was broken because of me. My pain was breaking down my father, who was one of the toughest men I knew in the world. If only I could do something for him and for me. If only I could forget Titus and move on as nothing happened. Why does the mate bond have to be this strong? Why was I mated to someone who couldn't be with me?

"Freya, you can't let your emotions cloud your judgment. You need to control yourself," Dad looked panicked at my words.

"I can't help it Dad, I don't know what I want," I sobbed again.

Dad wiped my tears and kissed my forehead, "You are burning," he pulled back and touched my forehead with his hand.

"Minerva, she is burning," Dad called mom in a panic who was standing an arm's length away from us and was looking heartbroken.

"We need to take her to the pack clinic, I think she has a high fever," Dad said straitening up from kneeling position, lifting me along with him in his arms.

"Everything will be fine sweetie, trust us," Mom walked to us and said caressing my cheek.

Dad carried me inside into the ballroom of the pack, all the people assembled in the room were looking at me in pity. They might have seen Titus and his father leave without me and would have started all kinds of gossips. If only Titus would not have come to my birthday party today, I would not have to go through another humiliation. Now everyone will give me pitiful looks because my mate had not accepted me. The scenario was different but people like to say what they like and all my pack members wanted was to make me feel miserable.

I ignored the sympathizing and pitiful stares I received from the people we passed in the room and kept my head buried in Dad's chest. I wish that I could disappear from the face of the Earth. I had sent Titus away and now I was the one feeling hurt. Dad carried me to the clinic in his arms, with Mom tagging along. Dad's Beta Greg followed us as well along with his wife Jenny.
