Noelle noticed the depth in Cedric's gaze, and her breath hitched for a moment. Her eyelashes fluttered. "W-we're just friends."

Wasn't that what he had said before? They were just friends, and he only saw her as a sister.

Cedric saw her response and gritted his teeth as he stood up. "Let's go."

He walked ahead, his sharp features expressionless. Noelle followed, keeping a step of distance between them.

Alfred and Magnus walked behind them. The latter looked anxious and wanted to say something, but Alfred held him back.

Alfred's voice was low. "Stop causing trouble, will you?"

Magnus was like a husky—impossible to control. It was best for him not to get involved in this situation.

Magnus was dying of curiosity. "They're really not together?" It had been months, and Cedric still hadn't managed to win her over. He was so useless!

"Don't think about it. It's not possible between them."

"Why not?"

"Because Noelle is..." Alfred didn't finish his sentence.

Magnus looked up with sincere, curious eyes. "Alfred, I can keep a secret. I won't say a word."

Alfred gave Magnus a look and pressed his face. "You have the nerve to say that?"

Since they were children, Magnus had had the worst case of loose lips. He almost slipped up earlier, but thankfully, he didn't.

Magnus' curiosity was piqued. Was there some hidden identity to Noelle? Or was her family background too ordinary to mention?

The group walked out.

Noelle checked her phone; Grace had messaged her asking where she was. She then turned back to them. "I'll head back to school now. My classmates are waiting for me."
