Noelle looked at Michael in surprise. Was there a story behind this?

She had heard rumors about the Greene heir getting engaged to the Merlock daughter, but it had never been proven in public. It seemed to exist as just a rumor.

Samantha was livid. "You're just a random employee. What do you know? My brother-in-law has been really busy. He'll only come home in the next few days where we'll then have dinner together and talk about the engagement."

Why else would she have apologized to Noelle in public? It was all for Laura's engagement with the Greene heir.

"Samantha, you must be mad. When has my brother ever agreed to dine with the Merlocks?" Noelle looked up to see that Magnus had arrived. He had a huge pair of sunglasses perched on his nose, looking very mysterious.

Was he here to explain all the rumors?

Upon seeing him, Samantha's face fell. "That's the truth. We've come to an agreement a long time ago."

"That was my mom discussing with you guys. What does that have to do with my brother?"

"Your mother was representing him in the engagement talks."

"In that case, ask Mom to marry Laura. After all, it has always been my mom talking about marriage. The two of them belong together."

Magnus' words stunned the audience.

Samantha burst into tears. "Magnus, don't cross the line. Your mom agreed to the engagement herself. Aren't you embarrassing her by saying so?"

"I'm her disobedient child anyway. It's not the first time I've embarrassed her."

It was enough to have Cedric making Emma proud. It wouldn't matter if he humiliated Emma a little.

Samantha couldn't stand the eyes on her. Yet, she couldn't overpower Magnus.

However, Xenia didn't leave. She stared at Magnus in surprise.
