Startled, Noelle glanced at Cedric beside her and tentatively asked, "What's wrong?"

The sudden braking surprised her, and she thought something had happened.

"I got distracted for a moment," Cedric replied. He stared at the cars ahead, and his mind went blank as he wondered if the Liddells had found out.

Throughout the journey, he wished the road would stretch on forever because things would never be the same again once Noelle arrived at the hospital and got answers from Frank. However, the road was clear, with no traffic or delays.

As they arrived at the hospital, Noelle glanced outside and said, "You can go ahead if you have anything else to deal with. I'll just grab a cab."

"I'll be here waiting for you." Cedric's gaze was deep and unwavering. He needed answers—the answer that concerned him.

Noelle nodded and turned to leave, but before she could walk away, Cedric called out, "Noelle."

She turned back and saw him hesitating to speak. Frowning slightly, she walked back to the car and asked, "What is it?"

Cedric's hands were damp with sweat. Then, he pressed his lips together and said, "It's nothing."

"If you have something to say, just say it. Don't drag it out."

"I just want you to know that no matter what happens, I'll always be your strongest support."

Noelle smiled. "Got it. I'll text you if anything happens." With that, she turned and walked into the hospital.

As Cedric watched her disappear from sight with an unreadable expression, he couldn't help lighting up a cigarette. Time had never felt so unbearably slow. Had this day finally come?
