"Nick and I aren't dating. It's not like I dated him and now I'm moving on to one of his teammates. It's strictly sexual between us."
"Maybe for you but Nick likes you." I tell her.
"Oh come on, you're always bugging me to go to their games with you and now I am and
you won't even help me out."
"I just don't want to see Nick get hurt."
"That's not my fault, I've tried to make it clear to him that I'm not interested, he's just not taking the hint."
"Maybe he would if you'd stop sleeping with him." I tell her.
"I am!" She throws her hands up. "I told you I'm not going there again and I'm not. So are you going to help me or not?"
"Watch out!" Someone screams. Before I can move something hits me in the face hard, so hard I fall onto the ground and my face feels like it just got hit by a truck.
"Kamdyn!" Jess's voice is the last thing I hear before everything goes black.
"Kamdyn. Kamdyn, are you okay?" It's a guy's voice, one I don't recognize, I force my
eyes open and the sun is so bright I close my eyes again.
"She's waking up." Jess says.
My head hurts so bad I groan. "You okay?" I open my eyes again and Owen is leaning over me. "I'm so sorry, I don't know why Overton even kicked it that hard."
"What?" I try to raise up and wince with pain. "What just happened?" I ask.
"Overton hit you in the face with a football." Owen explains.
"Sorry about that." Overton says. "I shouldn't have kicked it that hard."
"Are you okay?" Jess asks, she's leaning over me on the other side, biting her lip nervously.
"I....I think so." I lie, I feel like I just got hit by a truck, I'm so dizzy and everything is spinning and my head hurts so bad I can't breathe.
"Can you stand up? I can take you to the ER. You might have a concussion." Owen says. He grabs my hand and slowly pulls me to my feet. I fall back but his arm is there to keep me from falling, standing up just made everything worse.
"I can take her." Jess says.
My ears are ringing and my head hurts worse than ten hangovers combined. I reach up and touch the back of my head where a lump has taken place. "Ouch." I say.
Owen has his arm around my waist in case I fall. I've never passed out in my entire life so of course I had to do it in front of a lot of guys on the football team. "That's going to bruise." Owen tells me his face full of sympathy.
"Come on help me get her to her car." Jess says.
Owen picks me up and carries me to my car and I lay my head on his shoulder, I'm so dizzy I close my eyes. He puts me in my car and buckles me up. "Here is my number." Owen says taking my phone out of Jess's hand. "Please call me as soon as you know something." He leans over and tucks a piece of hair off my face. "I'm so sorry about this, Kamdyn, when you feel up to it I'm taking you to dinner to make up for it."
"It's not your fault." I tell him.
He stands back up. "Let me know as soon as you know something." He shuts the door
"You need to man up and just do it already." Aaron says.
"I know. It's just....What if she doesn't feel the same way?"
Aaron groans. "Dude, do you hear yourself? You sound like such a girl." Aaron mocks him in a girly voice. "What if she doesn't feel the same way? Am I supposed to braid your hair now? Grow a pair and just tell her already!"
"I've never done this before. I don't want to freak her out-" Just then the floor creaked
under my foot. I hold my breath. The two of them fall silent and I know they heard me. "Kam? Is that you?" Ian yells.
"Yeah, just going to the bathroom. I'm going back to bed now." I say.
Ian comes out of Aaron's room. "Hey, beautiful, how did you sleep?" He pulls me into a hug, I lay my head on his chest.
What are they talking about? "I didn't mean to eaves drop but..." I bite my lip. "If you have something to tell me just tell me. I can handle it." Unless it's he doesn't want to see me anymore, I couldn't handle that.
"I...." He lets out a long breath. "It wasn't about you. We were talking about someone else."
"Oh. Okay." I know he's lying and it terrifies me. What if he's decided to end whatever this is?
"Come on let's get you back to bed. How's your head?"
"It hurts."
"I'm sorry, I'll go get you some ice." He gives me a quick kiss before heading downstairs. I hate not knowing what they were talking about. Now I'm going to stress over what it is. That's what I get for listening to their conversation. I should've just gone back to Ian's room.
