He chuckles. "Yeah, I guess I can do a chick flick for you."
"I'm just kidding, it doesn't have to be a chick flick, I'm open for anything."
"Okay, we'll see what's showing then." He looks down at his phone. "Gotta go to class. I'll see you later."
"Bye." I watch Owen walk off and Nick passes him. I give him a little wave and he hesitates before nodding and walks off. Even Nick isn't talking to me. It's crazy how you think you're friends with someone and then the next minute they don't even know you're alive.
"Hey, slut." Jess says sitting down next to me. "Where's Owen?"
"He had to get to class."
"I wished I had a hot football player get me a Frappuccino every morning." She grabs my Frappuccino and takes a drink.
"I can ask Owen if he knows anyone." I joke.
"Yes, please, also he has to be shirtless when he hands it to me, that's nonnegotiable."
I laugh, only Jess. "Okay, I'll be sure to tell him that. Have you talked to Nick?"
"I saw him a few days ago. Why?"
"I just saw him and he didn't even talk to me." I looked down as I fiddled with the napkin in front of me, it really hurt how they are all ignoring me. I had considered them friends.
"What? Why?"
"I don't know."
"I'll talk to him, if he's going to ignore my best friend then he and I can't be special friends anymore." She says before taking another sip.
"No, it's okay, Jess, he's just being loyal to Ian." I understood in a way, they think I was playing him and if it was Jess and a guy played her, I wouldn't talk to him either. They were just being good friends to him and I can't fault them for that.
"No, it's really not okay, you haven't done anything wrong. I don't know why you liked hanging out with those jerks so much anyway, I mean sure they're hot but that doesn't make up for their crappy personalities."
Owen is perfect, he's sweet, good looking, funny, and thinks about others instead of just himself unlike Mr. Star Pitcher who thinks he's God's gift to women. Owen doesn't talk about football all the time either, Ian didn't always talk about baseball but he did talk about it more than I'd like to hear about it, especially with his friends. I got tired of hearing about baseball sometimes, sure we would talk about other things too but still, I guess I'm just enjoying not hearing about baseball. I'm actually enjoying spending time with Owen too, at first I felt a little guilty about it but since Ian clearly doesn't miss me I'm not going to allow myself to feel guilty for having fun without him.
We chose a comedy and it was so funny we laughed the entire time, it was just what I needed. A couple of times Owen's hand brushed against mine on the arm rest and I would instinctively pull away, I didn't want it to be awkward between us, I really like Owen but I'm just not ready for hand holding right now. Once the movie was over Owen and I followed the crowd out the exit, we were laughing and talking about the movie when I turned and saw Tim standing by the concession stand with some girl. I glanced his way and our eyes met but neither of us acknowledged the other, no sense in acting like we're still friends, especially since none of them have spoken to me in over a week. He glared at Owen and me for a second before turning away so I know he saw me. That's okay, he and Nick want to act like they don't know me then I'll act like I don't know them either.
Owen nudges my arm. "You okay?"
"Yeah, I just miss them I guess."
Owen puts his arm around my neck and pulls me to him. "Forget them, you got me now."
I smiled up at him and side hugged him back. "Glad I have you at least."
He winked at me. "You bet. Come on let's go grab a bite to eat I'm starving."
I knew it was no secret that Tim knew Owen and I are hanging out a lot, his brother lives with Owen so I'm sure he keeps him updated on how many times I come over, but hopefully he tells him I've never spent the night, not that it would matter. Tim's litter brother Taylor is actually pretty cool and it's amazing how much they look alike; they could pass as twins. Taylor has never been rude to me but he's never really went out of his way to make me feel welcome either and I know it's because of Ian so I try not to take it personally.
