"So that's what you were doing? He was teaching you how to throw?" Jess asks shaking her head. "You're not going to take my advice at all are you? I tell you to stop spending so much time with him and you let him teach you how to throw a ball. I tell you to stop spending the night with him and you've spent the night every night this week. You might as well just tell him how you feel."
"I can't! You should've heard them making fun of this girl Tim is hooking up with because she told him she loves him. There's no way I'm telling Ian. I don't want to be that girl."
"Babe, you are that girl. You're the relationship girl not the casual hookup girl and nothing is going to change that. Just tell him already."
I shake my head. "No, I'm not going to let them talk about me like that."
She shrugs. "Then continue to be secretly in love with him because he's never going to tell you first even if he does feel the same way. The best thing for you to do is just tell him. If he doesn't feel the same way so what, at least you'll know instead of obsessing over him. Maybe if he starts ignoring you you can finally move on."
She says it like it's so easy, if he doesn't feel the same way I'll be crushed and Ian will be a lot harder to get over than Mason because I love Ian more. I thought I'd loved Mason but I don't think I ever really did, he was too easy to get over. I knew that wouldn't be the case with Ian, I may never get over him.
"I don't know what you're so worried about. There's a big chance he does feel the same way about you, I mean just think about it, he does spend a lot of time with you."
"Because, we're friends, he likes hanging out with me."
"As far as I know you're the only girl he hangs out with and he does cuddle with you. Men only cuddle if they care about you."
"Maybe he just likes cuddling." I argue. I really hope what she says is true but I don't want to get my hopes up.
"Trust me, no man likes to cuddle. So you are still going to go to that party with me. Right?"
"Of course. I wouldn't miss it."
"Good so pick something slutty and lets get out of here." She goes to our closet and picks out a short black skirt and pairs it with a silver top that has the back out. "This would look hot on you." She says tossing it on the bed.
"Nah, that's more your style." I tell her before going to our closet. Jess is fearless and I've seen her wear skirts so short you can see her cheeks hanging out the bottom, that is just Jess, but I could never wear something like that, not that I'm not secure with my body, I am, I just don't want everyone seeing my behind everywhere I go. I grab a white smocked tube dress, it's short but not too short. I quickly put it on and I can tell by Jess's face she doesn't think it's short enough. She makes a face at me before putting on the outfit she'd chosen for me.
"Suit yourself but if Ian saw you in this he would confess his love to you right in front of everyone." She teased.
"Would you stop with that already?" I tell her. "You're going to slip up one day and someone is going to hear you."
"Sorry." She walks to our mirror and starts reapplying her mascara. "Don't get me wrong, you look cute, but in this outfit, you would look hot, every guy would be throwing themselves at you."
"I don't want other guys, Jess, I just want Ian."
"You're crazy, I'll never understand how one guy can be enough."
"Trust me, Ian is more than enough."
"Hey." I say with a smile.
"Kamdyn right?" I nod. "I'm-"
"I know who you are." I tell him. It's Owen Jacobs and he's the quarterback. I don't know much about him but I do know he's Overton's cousin and Tim's little brother Taylor's roommate. Unlike Ian he's had a serious girlfriend he dated all freshman and sophomore year but I heard they broke up over the summer but the point is he is able to commit to someone and he's really good looking, not as good looking as Ian but then again who is.
He flashes me a row full of perfect white teeth. "So how is it we know who each other is but have never talked?" He asks.
Jess nudges me and nods to the side of us, the crowd of people part and that's when I see Ian standing there with some redhead girl draped all over him. So that's why I haven't heard from him since his game. He's at a party with some redhead. She was leaning in saying something to him and he laughs. I feel like my heart is being ripped from my chest. So much for being the only one he's sleeping with.
I force my attention back to Owen. What was it he just said? Oh yeah. "I don't know but now that we have officially met why don't we fix that?" I glance back over at Ian and he's still talking to the same girl, she's still got her arms around his neck gazing up at him like he's the sexiest man in the room, okay, so maybe he is but she still doesn't have to look at him that way.
"Can I get you a drink?"
That's one rule I always follow, never ever accept a drink from a guy, ever, unless you know him really well and even then it depends on what type of person he is. You never know if one of them is going to put something in your drink. "No, I'm not drinking tonight but thank you."
"Designated driver huh? That sucks."
I shrug. "I don't mind. I'm not much of a drinker anyway." I glance over and see the girl saying something into Ian's ear, he laughs. "What a prick."
