As Cameron's mind wandered off, Nina led them to a charming rose garden. Inside, Nathan was tending to the roses, wearing a straw hat and boots, wielding a large pair of shears with precision.
Cameron and Benjamin shared a knowing glance before Cameron cleared his throat to get Nathan's attention. True to form, Nathan looked up, and his welcoming smile quickly turned sour upon seeing them.
"Nina, who said you could bring these guys here?" Nathan asked, as he deftly gathered the roses into a neat bouquet.
Nina replied quietly, "Dad, they wanted to see you."
Nathan gave a slight smirk. "And do you know why they're here?"
Nina shook her head, looking a bit lost. "They're here to stir up trouble for your dad," Nathan said casually.
Nina's eyes flickered with worry. "I'm sorry, Dad. I had no idea. If I’d known, I wouldn’t have brought them."
Nathan waved her off dismissively. "What's done is done. No point in dwelling on it. Nina, you can go now. I'll have a chat with them."
Nina cast a complicated glance at Cameron before turning away slowly.
With his bouquet in hand, Nathan approached Cameron. Benjamin couldn't resist a jab, "A big guy like you into flowers—what's that about?"
Nathan took pride in his response, "These are for my wife."
Cameron eyed the bouquet, noting the eleven roses—a symbol of undivided devotion. "If memory serves, my ex-wife wasn't fond of these prickly things," he remarked.
Nathan pulled out the picture and was visibly taken aback by the man in the wheelchair. Cameron noticed the shift in his expression. "Do you know him?"
Nathan stuffed the photo back into the bag and tossed it to Cameron, nodding. "Yeah, I do."
Cameron was eager, "Who is he?"
Nathan gave him a sideways glance, "And why should I tell you? What's in it for me?"
Cameron was caught off guard. He hadn't anticipated Nathan's straightforwardness in admitting he knew the person, nor did he expect Nathan to be so coy about revealing more.
Benjamin piped up, clearly frustrated, "Nathan, why do you have to be so difficult?"
