The head nurse continued with her routine questions, "Please jot down your name and ID number here."

Nathalie took the form and casually scribbled a name, tweaking a few digits of her ID number. Lizzy followed her lead.

With a polite gesture, the head nurse indicated the direction of Room 607, "Room 607 is over there. Let me show you the way."

They headed straight into Room 607. Nathalie directed Lizzy to set down all the expensive supplements. Then, she struck up a fake conversation with the confused patient, "I’m here on behalf of my boss to check on you. Make sure you take good care of yourself..."

Hearing nothing suspicious, the head nurse turned and left.

Lizzy, standing by the door, kept watch until the head nurse was out of sight, then quickly signaled Nathalie, "Let's go, sis."

Nathalie swiftly left Room 607 and moved to open the door of the adjacent Room 606.

This was a VIP suite, spacious and luxurious.

On the hospital bed lay a gaunt man. Although years of illness had reduced him to skin and bones, traces of his refined demeanor from younger days were still visible.

Seeing him, Nathalie's eyes filled with tears. She slowly approached the bed, knees trembling, and knelt before him.

"I'm so sorry. I had no idea you existed. If I had known, I would have come much sooner."

The patient's eyes remained shut, giving no sign of awareness.

Nathalie reached out, gently holding the man's frail hand. "My name is Nathalie. I'm Maya’s daughter, but I was raised by my aunt."

"I'm your daughter. I never got to meet my parents. They told me you’re my real father. I don’t know if you're glad I’m here, but I felt, as your daughter, I had to see you..."

Suddenly, the patient stirred slightly, his neck moving.

Lizzy exclaimed excitedly, "Sis, he moved!"

Just then, Lizzy anxiously whispered, "Sis, the head nurse is coming back. We need to leave now."

"Alright."

But as Nathalie stood to leave, Lincoln’s hand suddenly clasped hers...

Nathalie looked at Lincoln in disbelief, only to see tears slipping from his tightly shut eyes.

Choking back her own tears, Nathalie said, "I have to go now. If the Stewart family finds out I was here, things will get messy."

Lincoln’s hand fell limply.

"Don’t worry, I’ll find a way to get you out of here," Nathalie promised.

Lizzy tugged the reluctant Nathalie away, and they quickly left Room 606.
