Morris couldn't be bothered with Greta's nonsense. His eyes were full of sarcasm, and he wore a look that screamed, "I can't be bothered."
But Mrs. Vincent wasn't having any of it. She turned to Morris and asked, "Mr. Rowland, are you going to address Greta's concerns?"
Morris let out a derisive chuckle. "Concerns without any proof. Why should I waste my words on her? I'm not here to bicker."
His handsome face suddenly took on a darker tone. "Greta, you know why Nathalie is so weak. If you're the one behind it and don't feel a shred of guilt, continuing to mess with her life, you'll regret it. I'll make sure of it."
Greta suddenly broke down, crying and yelling, "Why? Haven't you done enough to me? I didn't deserve this ending!"
Morris fixed her with a dark stare. "You know why. In this life, I only care about Nathalie's happiness. As long as you're not in her way, I couldn't care less about you."
"Wow, he's so amazing," someone in the crowd suddenly blurted. "Nathalie is so lucky to have someone who treasures her so much. She's truly living a blessed life."
A few of the Mrs. Vincents shot the young, lively girl a look. "Lydia, hush."
The charming Miss Sharp quickly covered her mouth with a playful grin, but her admiration for Morris shone in her eyes.
Greta, however, burst into a manic laugh. "Yes, I do envy Nellie. She has you to cherish her, a street beggar turned queen. She has everything now—health, peace, a happy family. But those should have been mine. Morris, why do you treat me like this? Why?"
Morris's face stayed stony.
