Chapter 101 

Gordon’s eyes were bloodshot as he creaked out the words, “Why didn’t you look for me when you ran into trouble?” 

“Things just happened at that time, and I didn’t think so much. I was wonder about getting you implicated. Gordon, I know you. If that guy unexpectedly died due to blood loss, you’d definitely take the rap 

Mayra could say all this because she was confident that Gordon was capable of doing that. 

“You have a bright future ahead of you. I can’t drag you down. Moreover, you have more responsibilities than me while I only have a brother. As you know, my brother is amazing. There’s nothing he can’t settle. So…” 

Holding his face, Mayra continued, “Don’t worry about me in the future and take care of yourself. Remember this, Gordon, Promise me you’ll make a lot of money after this. So much that I can never finish spending it all. Okay?” 

Gordon pursed his lips. “Okay,” 

This was his promise to her. She knew that in the near future, he would fulfill his promise and sit as equals with Anderson in Belchester. 

Back then, Gordon was so glorious. He was able to make those who once looked down on him raise their heads at him in awe. 

Holding a food container, Emily walked into the ward and interrupted the ambiguous atmosphere between them. “Gordon, my dear, I was worried that you’d be hungry after waking up. So, I bought you some food from downstairs.” 

My dear? Mayra wondered when Gordon and Emily got so close. She pinched Gordon’s arm in annoyance under the blanket. 

“I don’t need it. Go home first,” Gordon said to Emily. 

“But the doctor said you need someone to take care of you in the hospital. I’ll be worried if you’re alone here,” she replied. 

“It’s okay. I’ll be here to take care of him. We’ll head home once the IV transfusion is done,” said Mayra. 

Suppressing her disgruntlement, Emily put on a smile. “Okay. Rest well, Gordon. Bye.” 

After she left, Mayra questioned him, “Tell me honestly. Why did he start calling you ‘my dear? When did you become so close with her? 

Gordon’s expression was calm, but he looked more serious now. “There’s nothing between us. You know who I’m close with ” 

Mayra broke into a smile unwittingly and gave him a bear hug. “I’ll reward you with a hug. Rest for a while. I’m right next to you.” 

“Gordon, you must’ve searched for a long time when you knew that I was gone, right?” she thought. 

It was already 5:30 pm when they left the hospital after finishing three bottles of IV transfusions. Then, they hopped into a cab and went home. 

At Everton Corporation, Anderson walked out of the conference room and loosened his tie after two hours of meeting. “Tell me what’s next on my schedule and cancel the unnecessary ones.”
