Fortunately, Valerie pulled through. Many now envy her, and she’s become the talk of the campus.

Even students from other universities have started to notice Reano University’s campus belle, captivated by her stunning beauty.

‘Too bad–she’s not just taken, she’s already married,‘ they wondered.

Once morning classes were over, Adrienne used her lunch break to reach out to the landlord.

The agent responded eagerly and immediately agreed to show them the place, as if they’d been waiting for their call all along.

Noticing how rushed they looked, Elbert sidled up with a mischievous grin and teased, “Where are you two off to in such a hurry?”

Adrienne glanced at him and said, “We found a place and are planning to move out.”

“Huh,” someone nearby piped up, “You’re not staying in the dorm anymore?”

“Exactly. Our roommates are impossible to live with–constantly badmouthing us and posting nasty stuff about us on the school forum.

“After everything that’s happened, we’re too scared to stay there anymore,” Adrienne said bluntly, shooting a pointed glance at Meredith.

Valerie stood up. “Let’s go.”

Elbert grinned and chimed in, “Count me in. I’ll be your knight in shining armor.”

Adrienne wrinkled her nose in distaste, but after some thought, she realized that having a guy tag along would make things safer for two girls.

And so, Elbert happily tagged along behind them to check out the apartment.

The apartment was just a short walk from campus–less than ten minutes to the main gate. When they arrived, Adrienne was awestruck by its magnificent facade.

Adrienne couldn’t help but exclaim to herself, “Wow. It’s enormous and so luxurious.”

At the entrance lay a charming little courtyard, overflowing with vibrant blooms in their full glory.

They stepped inside through the fingerprint–locked door, and the living room unfolded before them, spacious, beyond expectation.

Adrienne was amazed–it was even more exquisite and luxurious than the photos showed.

The entire place was immaculate; though there were faint traces of previous occupancy, everything had been meticulously maintained.

Adrienne noticed that the place was actually pretty spacious. But what really surprised her was that, instead of the one–bedroom apartment she’d expected, it turned out to have two bedrooms and a living room.

After looking around, Adrienne said, “Wait? Why are there two bedrooms? We only need one.”

The real estate agent approached with a smile and said, “There are two of you, right? Wouldn’t two bedrooms be more convenient?

“Plus, the landlord is really great, offering you this spacious place for just two thousand yuan.”

“Wow.” Adrienne’s heart raced. “Is this for real?/A place this spacious and luxurious?”

Elbert exclaimed, hardly believing his eyes, “This table’s made from the Walker Group’s latest bulletproof glass–crazy expensive. And damn, this projector.

“I’ve wanted one forever, but it costs 15 thousand dollars. Seriously, are you sure that’s the real price? 600 dollars a month, and we get to use all this?

The agent froze. “Wait? You’re staying too?”

At first, he was only told it was two girls–nothing more. All he had to do was talk them into renting the place, and once the deal was done, he’d pocket a 600–dollar commission.

That was why he’d been so eager to contact Adrienne. But now, with an extra person in the mix, how was this supposed to play out?

Elbert grinned and said, “Yeah. I’m her boyfriend. This place is just for the two of us.”

Adrienne shot him a glare and gave him a swift kick under the table, clearly annoyed by his nonsense.

Elbert quickly dodged her kick and shot her a meaningful look, signaling her to play along.

The agent looked skeptical. “Wait? I thought it was just two girls. No one said anything about a guy.”

Valerie frowned, finding it even stranger. “Does the landlord really insist on renting only to two girls?”

“Yeah, exactly. Two girls tend to keep the place cleaner and take better care of the furniture, which is why the landlord is willing to rent it out. Having a guy around would be a different story.” the agent explained.

“That’s so sketchy,” Elbert said, suspicion written all over his face. “You only want to rent to two girls, the rent is dirt cheap, and all the furniture is crazy expensive.

“Something’s fishy here. Are you sure you’re not running some kind of scam or part of a criminal gang?”

The agent quickly waved his hands in denial, pointing to the ID badge on his chest. “I’m a licensed agent. You can check my credentials. I’ve been in this business for nearly ten years.

“Honestly, this isn’t the first time I’ve seen a situation like this. The landlord’s family has high standards, but had to go abroad unexpectedly, so they just want someone to maintain the property.

“As for the rent, that’s not really the issue. Since girls tend to keep things cleaner, they prefer renting to female students.”

Elbert remained skeptical. Adrienne said, “We’ll think it over, thanks.” The agent agreed right away.

After the three of them had lunch near the school, Valerie couldn’t help but think, ‘Those furnishings back at the apartment look suspiciously brand new. Something about it just feels off.”

And considering Aiden’s attitude this morning, she wondered, ‘Could this be Aiden’s doing?”

Adrienne was absolutely in love with the apartment. She turned to Valerie and asked eagerly, “Valerie, should we go for it?”

Elbert frowned. “This feels shady. What if it’s some kind of setup?”

Valerie didn’t answer, but said, “Hold on a sec.”

Valerie picked up her phone and sent Aiden a WhatsApp with a cute, confused cat meme: [You there?]

Aiden: [Yes.]

It was the first time Valerie had ever gotten an instant reply from Aiden, and she couldn’t help but feel a little thrill. She quickly typed: [You mentioned this morning that you’d arranged a place for me. Where is it?]

Aiden: [What?] A moment later, he sent a voice message. “Didn’t you say no?”

Valerie quickly replied: [No, I was just casually asking.]
