Their legal teams, having combined their knowledge, resources, and expertise, brought together shocking amounts of evidence of Annie’s wrongdoing that painted the most horrible of pictures of scheming and manipulations. 

The press conference had proved to be a turning point. To Emma and Alexander’s relief, it had far surpassed expectations. The public, which once had fallen for Annie’s manipulation, now began to see her for what she really was. Most surprising of all, people who had earlier been silenced by Annie through threats or money started to come forward. They began telling one by one their stories, with further evidence of her web of deceit. 

The conference room was strained but resolute in atmosphere. Emma sat at one head of the table, Alexander at the other. Between them, their legal teams had amassed enough evidence–emails, bank transactions, witness statements, and more–the list went on and on. 

Emma flipped through the latest set of documents, her fingers trembling with a mixture of disgust and disbelief at the extent of Annie’s corruption. She was a monster, an animal in human skin. 

Alexander glanced at her across the table, his jaw clenching down on thoughts of all that Emma had suffered at Annie’s hand. 

Suddenly, Emma’s phone buzzed on the table, She frowned, picking it up. It was an email from an unknown sender The subject line was chilling: 

“Good day, Mrs. Emma Black. If you’re reading this, it means I’m dead. And Annie is the one responsible. To understand why, click the link below.” 

Emma hesitated; she barely clicked links from unknown senders for fear of phishing or hacking attempts. But something told her this message was different. Her instincts took over as, sans thinking, she tapped the link. 

The video that opened wasn’t at all what she had expected. Her phone screen filled with erotica footage, and almost immediately, loud, unmistakable moans erupted from the speakers of her phone. Emma froze, her eyes wide in horror. The room, which had been abuzz with formal conversation, fell silen 

Every head turned toward her, their shock palpable. 

The explicit sounds filled the room, and Emma fumbled to lower the volume, her hands shaking. But it was too late, the damage was done. 

Alexander’s sharp gaze bore into her, flabbergasted. 

Emma’s heart was racing in her chest. The condemning stare of every person in this room was on her. She rose to her feet, her hands up in defense, while her voice cracked. “It’s not what you think!” 

Alexander didn’t soften at all. The muscle of his jaw was knotted and his fists were clenched on the table. 

Emma gulped as her mind was working a mile a minute. She held up her phone. “It’s… an anonymous e–mail. Some person sent them to me–those videos. There are some erotica videos dared of Annie, and they blame Annie for, their death. 

Her words–managed to slice the tension, and Alexander’s frown deepened, his elbows landing on his knees. “Let me see,” he told her firmly.
