The moment the door swung open, William was already waiting outside. 

When David stepped out, he immediately spoke. “Mr. Ellison-” 

“Let’s go.” 

“But Mrs. Ellison-” 

Before he could finish, Caroline’s voice rang out from inside. 

“Get out! Just go!” 

David’s stride barely faltered, but he didn’t turn back. Without hesitation, he walked away. 

Only Caroline would dare to say something like that to him. 

The entire department was left speechless. 

Did they hear that right? Had Mr. Ellison really just gotten thrown out? 

David’s face was dark as he strode out of the R&D department.

He had shown up, tried to check on her–and got shouted out the door. 

Boris was already standing by the elevator, casually pressing the button. “Mr. Ellison, take care.” 

David shot him a cold look, his expression unreadable. 

“Hey, don’t look at me like that,” Boris said with a shrug. “I did my part. You told me to let her know you wanted to see her, and I did. She refused. Said she’d take full responsibility for whatever happens. What else was I supposed to do? Drag her there?” 

David didn’t reply, eyes locked on the glowing elevator numbers. 

“So what’s the latest issue?” Boris asked, grinning. “Come on, spill.” 

“None of your business.” 

Boris smirked. “Maybe I can give you some advice. Winning over a woman takes skill and patience. You can’t just expect her to fall into your lap.” 

“Shut up.” David had no interest in hearing this. 

“I mean it,” Boris said, shaking his head. “Keep pushing her like this, and sooner or later, you’re going to lose her completely.” 

“Enough.” David stepped into the elevator and hit the button for the top floor. Before the doors closed, he added sharply, “As long as she’s in your department, watch her. If anything happens, you’re the one answering to me.”

“You’re too kind,” Cameron replied with a chuckle. “Actually… I just landed.” 

“Wait, what?” Boris blinked. “You’re already here?” 

“That’s right. It was a last–minute trip, so I won’t be staying long. Unfortunately, I might not have time for a proper sit–down with you.” 

“Busy as always,” Boris mused. 

“All part of the job,” Cameron said with a laugh. “But while I won’t have time for a meeting with you, I would like to meet your star formulator–the one behind Caroz.” 

Though their interactions had always been strictly professional, Cameron had made one thing clear—he wanted to meet the person responsible for Caroz’s formulas.
