That afternoon, Caroline arrived at the café thirty minutes ahead of schedule.

Caroline settled into a window seat, flipping through her notes as she tried to steady her nerves. She had no idea what Cameron was going to ask. 

With his wealth, influence, and status, why was he so adamant about meeting me–a formulator? 

No matter how she thought about it, she couldn’t make sense of it.

A rhythmic set of footsteps approached, confident yet unhurried. 

She glanced up just as a man in a tailored silver–gray suit and polished black leather shoes came into view. 

He wore rimless gold glasses, his posture straight, his movements refined, and composed. 

She stood immediately. “Mr. Cameron.”

Caroline’s eyes brightened slightly.
