The next day, William pushed Margaret back to her room. "Margaret, I’ll be a little late tomorrow, I need to go to the church to fulfill my vow."

As he spoke, his long fingers gently brushed the peace charm hanging around Margaret’s neck, a soft smile playing at his lips. "The church is indeed powerful. No matter what happens in the future, never take off the peace charm. It will protect you."

Before leaving, he planted a kiss on Margaret’s lips, speaking his feelings with a low, obsessive tone. "Margaret, I love you."

Margaret shuddered, her body recoiling, as goosebumps rose. Once he left, she called the nurse. "Please help me wet a towel. I need to wash my face."

After lunch the next day, Margaret sensed someone had entered the room.

Wasn't William supposed to be at the church fulfilling his vow? Why was he back earlier than usual?

Margaret stayed silent, pretending he didn’t exist.

A moment later, a soft, grateful voice rang out, "Miss Margaret, I’m Anna’s mother. I came to thank you for donating your corneas to Anna. The doctor said her recovery is going very well, and she can see again."

Margaret was momentarily stunned. This was Anna's mother, the young girl who had just moved into the neighboring room.

The nurse had once told her that Anna resembled Margaret somewhat, and she was also a blind patient.

It seemed like fate.

Margaret had spoken with Anna before. She was a bright, optimistic young girl.

Margaret smiled faintly. "Anna’s mother, there’s no need to thank me. Anna is still young, and her future will be full of possibilities."
