The next morning was just like her usual morning spent at her flat. These days, Javier had gotten up early and by the time she was walking out of her bedroom, he was already on his way to the front door. He planted a kiss on her forehead, wished her a good day, then left for work.

He seemed to be busy too as he did not come back until much later in the evening and by the time he had gotten home, she already had her dinner with her mother or Damon and Tanner. They usually exchanged a brief conversation before going to sleep. She was in her bedroom and he was on the couch.

Today Ella had woken up slightly later than usual. Right after her eyes were opened, she jumped off her bed, nearly forgetting her ankle's condition, yet by the time she swung her bedroom door open, he was nowhere to be seen. She could not help but feel a bit disappointed that she did not get a chance to see him and have him plant a kiss on her forehead before he had gone to his office.

With a sigh, Ella went to her bathroom and washed up. Once she was done, she went to the kitchen and poured herself a warm cup of coffee. Javier had left the electric pot on to keep the coffee warm for her and she smiled at the thought. Even when he was busy, he still cared and these little things did not go unnoticed, instead, they crept into her heart and stayed there.

After reading some books that she had not gotten a chance to finish previously, she found herself not having much to do at home so she began cleaning her flat starting with her bedroom and then her living room and the kitchen. By lunchtime, there was no single dust on any of her furniture in her flat. Looking at the clock on the wall, informing her that it was a little after twelve o'clock in the afternoon, Ella let out a small groan. There were still hours before Damon or Javier got home and frankly, she was bored out of her mind, having nothing to do at all.

Then right when she was about to decide whether she should go to a nearby supermarket or take a walk around the block, her cellphone rang. The name 'Clarabelle' was written on the screen. It took her a while to realize that it was a call from Javier's sister. "Hi, Clarabelle."

"Ella! Oh gosh, it is so good to finally hear from you!" The female voice greeted her in both excitement and surprise. "How are you? How is your leg? I heard that you got hurt from the accident."

"It is getting better, thank you," she answered rather awkwardly.

A few seconds passed before Clarabelle finally spoke again, this time her voice sounded unsure. "I am sorry. I forgot that you lost some of your memory. You might think that I am a crazy person blabbering all of these." She let out a nervous laugh.

"No, no, it is alright." Ella was not sure what it was but there was something familiar about Clarabelle's voice, something that made her want to trust her. "You do not need to apologize. Is there anything you want me to help you with?"

“Oh, there is nothing. I was just—” Clarabelle paused for two seconds and let out a small sigh, "I miss you, Ella. Before the accident, we got pretty close. We talk about stuff and we even look for wedding gowns behind Javier's back." She laughed, and her laughter was infectious that Ella found herself giggling. "My brother did not know what hit him. He was completely clueless. He thought that you wanted a long engagement." She cleared her throat. "Anyway, yeah, I miss you, Ella. I know you probably do not remember me but I do remember you and gosh, it was so nice to finally have a sister. I hope you do not mind that I call you my sister."
