Chapter 2
Lilith Point of View
I woke up from the loud knocks and groaned, “What? It’s Sunday, James.” I yelled in a raspy voice.
“It’s noon, Lilith. We need to go and buy clothes for you or else you would not have anything to wear tomorrow that fits in the description they sent you.” James replied from the other side of the door.
As my mind comprehended his words, my sleep was long forgotten and I was rushing to the door. “You should have woken me earlier, James. I need to buy a lot of stuff.” I huffed while opening my door for him to enter.
He shook his head and ran his eyes over me before pointing his thumb behind his back and spoke, “Get ready in thirty minutes. I’m not waiting any longer.”
My eyes widened at his words and I rushed inside while mumbling, “How can you be so cruel at times? Thirty minutes to get done with everything.”
“I had told you before too to sleep early but you don’t want to. Not my fault, now get ready, kiddo.” James' voice faded as he went back to whatever he was doing.
I sighed and took a look at my room which had everything all over. The books that I was studying were laying on my dark wood nightstand while my light blue bed sheet was ruffled. The window located just above my bed was open, letting the slight warm breeze in my room.
I had thought to clean my room and organize it today but seems like I’m postponing it to next weekend. With these thoughts, I rushed into the shower and quickly washed my light caramel hair before scrubbing my pale skin.
I soon exited the shower and shuffled through the few pair of clothes that I owned to find something suitable to wear. After looking at every piece of cloth, I finally settled on a pair of white boyfriend jeans with an oversized olive-green sweatshirt. I knew it won’t look the most pleasing but I had barely any clothes to wear out since I was not fond of going out and I haven’t shopped for as long as I can remember.
I shook my head as I remembered that I was running late and blow-dried my mid-back length hair before pulling them in a sleek ponytail. I was just putting on my sneakers when I heard James' voice from the dining room, “We are getting late, Lilith.”
“Just a minute,” I yelled back and searched for my cell phone in my messy room.
Once I found my cell, I hurried towards the dining hall and saw James waiting for me patiently. He was dressed casually in blue denim and a fitted white T-shirt that showed his workout results very well.
“Let’s go.” He uttered as soon as he saw me and made his way outside towards his truck.
I followed him and as we settled inside his truck, I asked the question I have been dying to ask since yesterday. “Can I take your truck to college, James?”
