Chapter 5 novel The Billionaire’s Pretend Girlfriend

Alexia's POV.

I was still in shock. I mean what the hell just happened here. Nathaniel just called himself my boyfriend and that right in front of Liam and the funniest part of all this was that I didn't deny it.

I will blame my lack of denial on shock. I mean everything happened so fast and that I didn't even realize what was happening.

Hell, I was still having a hard time understanding what happened.

"Care to explain what just happened here, Alexia?" Liam asked. I could practically see the smoke coming out of his head.

I tried to open my mouth to speak but my mouth was suddenly too heavy to move. How do I explain to the love of my life that I was only in this ruse with Nathaniel because of him?

"Uhhmm...Liam...well... I don't know where to start from." I finally managed to speak.

"How did you guys meet?" He asked.

Oh no...this is bad. Everything happened so fast that I and Nathaniel didn't even think of a back up story.

"We uhh...we met online." I blurted.

"Online? Since when? For how long? How come you didn't tell me anything about it?" He asked.

This is getting a little bit overwhelming, I thought as I unconsciously fanned myself with my hand. I definitely wasn't thinking when I agreed to Nathaniel's plan. How on earth do I answer all his questions now?

"Can we go inside and talk? Please?" I asked and he only nodded in reply and started heading for the door. I headed for the kitchen and poured myself a glass of water before taking my seat on the kitchen counter while Liam leaned against the cooker directly facing me.

"We started talking about three months ago on F******k and he seemed cool so..." I trailed off.

"Why didn't you tell me about it?" He asked looking extremely hurt. I started feeling bad immediately but this isn't the time to feel bad.

"There was never a chance to tell you. We were either talking about you and the new girl you hooked up with or you are always busy going on and on about the latest party so..." I replied and his face fell a bit. I wasn't lying though. Whenever we got together it was always about this new hot girl or this party that people are talking about on I*******m and shit like that.

"I am so sorry. I didn't even realize...I am the shittiest best friend ever." He said. There was so much sadness in his voice that it tugged at my heartstring and the guilt increased in multiple folds.

"It is fine. I never complained." I said and shrugged.
