Mateo's pov.
In the world that we live in. Female rogues were rare, almost a prodigy. Because it's a known fact that no one can stay alive in those rogue lands without encountering death atleast once. And females alone? Well it was a very rare scene.
So you can imagine my surprise on hearing that a female rogue is found near our borders.
Technically speaking, I have no right to intervene. As the attack happened out of my lands. But for humanity sake, I knew had to.
Generosity is not what I show generally. But once a good deed won't hurt. Plus there are some extra marks in the seat of the council for social service ,and I am sure this could be a perfect opportunity for it.
"We are going ,right?"
Arthur asks sceptically. Looking at me with those hope filled eyes and I nod. Lifting myself up and grabbing my jacket.
"Get me the coordinates"
He smiles at me, nodding. As we both exit the office to shift into our wolves and leave towards the forest.
.
.
We must be halfway in our territory, when I get a whiff of an addicting scent. And I feel my wolf turning restless.
It smelt so good.
So familiar.
Like cherry blossom and peaches.
Strange.
My footsteps slower down to only have Arthur to stop as well. Looking back at me, he mindlinks me.
What happened Alpha?
I just dismiss the scent. To focus on the task at hand. Nodding at him,I reply continuing to run.
Nothing
We were approaching the borders when I see our pack wolves gathered around. Looking at something out of our territory.
Seeing me enter, they turn around to bow. Our gamma , reporting .
"I am afraid Alpha. We got late. The damage has already been done."
I clench my fist. Motioning them to move aside. And that's when they clear out my vision and a strong gust of wind hits me carrying that same scent along.
With another scent accompanying it this time and I could recognise it anywhere.
Blood
My wolf almost goes crazy in my mind sniffing it. And I couldn't understand why. Narrowing my eyes from what everyone was looking at and from where this scent was coming.
I step out of my borders to see a small figure laying unconscious on the rogue lands, and I suddenly go still.
The scent...it was coming from there.
Was that the female rogue we found near the borders?
It looks bad considering the amount of blood I smell.
I hope it's not hers entirely.
I step closer to check her vitals. When my wolf suddenly starts hitting the barriers in my mind.
Damn! What does he want now?
Lowering my barriers, his words get clear and I stop right there. Not able to believe him.
Mate! Save mate!
This girl? No! No! This can't be! I didn't had a mate ..how can I have one?
But it was not the time to think about it. I need to save her, no matter whst. Rushing forward, I crouch to her level, to only see her laying in a very awkward position.
Her t shirt and jeans was torn, coloured in mud and seeping with blood. There was a big gash on her thigh, like the rogue has literally chewed off a part of her tissue. While her one arm, was twisted behind her back, it must be dislocated.
I look at her face, to only see it pressed on the ground. With her short dark hair all sprawled over her face, hiding her identity.
I barely gulp. Moving my hand forward to touch her. Afraid of finding her dead.
"Hey?"
I ask. Placing my two fore fingers on her neck. To check her pulse, to only feel sparks in return.
I clench my other fist. But don't pull back my other hand.
It's there...but it's slow.
