Chapter 131 Found The Cargo Hold
“Look after them,” Maren instructed Jett.
She had considered asking Winona for help, but Winona was too timid to pull a trigger.
Jett, however, was dependable, fearless, and ready to face whatever came their way.
Jett did not fail her. As soon as he took the pistol from Maren’s hands, he recognized the seriousness of the situation.
Without a moment’s doubt, he promised, “I swear, I’ll make sure everyone is safe.”
A ripple of understanding passed through the group. The carefree atmosphere from moments before had evaporated, replaced by the sobering realization that their lives might genuinely be at stake.
“But Maren, if we take this, what about you?” Winona asked nervously.
The others echoed Winona’s apprehension. “Yeah, Maren. None of us have ever used a weapon. It should be you who keeps it.”
“Save your concern. Keep yourselves concealed. I’ll return with Agate unharmed,” Maren promised. Agate had been missing for about ten minutes and was most likely still alive.
Without another word, Maren stepped out, leaving the group behind.
The others watched, their hearts heavy. Tears welled in their eyes.
“Maren, please be careful.”
Maren caught the words just as she stepped out of the room, and a small sigh escaped her. When had she ever suggested she couldn’t handle a situation like this?
Nevertheless, she didn’t have the time to explain now.
With the ferry still far from its final stop at the Borba Bay, Maren wasn’t concerned about anyone escaping just
yet.
Simon and his team had likely already searched most of the public spaces. Now, her task was to focus on the
more secluded areas that hadn’t been checked.
“Send me the floor plan of the ferry,” Maren instructed, reaching out to Simon.
She needed to find a large, concealed space-likely the traffickers‘ hideout, where a group of women might be
held.
Maren refrained from contacting the Onyx for backup just yet. Isla had to be freed first. Any premature conflict

could jeopardize Isla’s safety.
After receiving the ferry’s layout, Maren examined it intently, her sharp eyes scanning each detail with practiced precision.
“With so much foot traffic throughout the ship, the only place that could conceal that many women would have to be both spacious and isolated,” she muttered to herself, studying the layout closely. Her gaze landed on one area. “The storage bay. That’s the only option.”
Her instincts sharpened immediately. If the women were indeed hidden there, based on her knowledge of the Sovereign Underworld’s operations, they wouldn’t assign many people guarding the area. Otherwise, it would only attract unwanted attention. Most likely, only a handful of elite guards would be posted there.
That was why Maren had refrained from notifying Simon and his crew to act.
Her plan was to slip in quietly, free Isla and Agate, get them to safety, and wait until the ferry docked before making a move.
With her objective clear, Maren headed alone towards the storage bay.
When she arrived at the heavy steel door, she noticed it wasn’t–fully closed. A narrow gap remained, suggesting someone had recently passed through.
A faint, unsettling odor seeped from the crack. Maren’s eyes narrowed as she inhaled deeply. She had witnessed enough bloodshed to recognize the scent of fresh blood. There were bodies inside.
“The stench is overwhelming. Either a lot of people died, or someone was dismembered.”
The grim conclusion came to her instantly.
As Maren reached for the heavy door, a voice abruptly interrupted her.
“Hey! What are you doing here?”
Maren spun around to face two men dressed as security guards, their postures stiff and their eyes wary.
“Students are gone missing on this ferry. The academy sents me to help with the search,” Maren explained.
“You came all the way to the storage bay to search for someone? This area is meant for freight. Don’t even think about stealing something. You’d better leave now.”
The two guards tried to drive Maren away.
Maren noticed when she mentioned she was searching for missing students, a flicker of panic flashed through the guards eyes.
Something was definitely off.
“Alright, I’ll go. But please, help me look for my classmates,” Maren said smoothly, turning as if to leave.
“Sure thing.” Seeing Maren walk away, the guards finally smiled.
“By the way, the door isn’t properly closed. You might want to check it. You wouldn’t want anyone slipping in
to steal something, would you?” Maren added after taking a few steps.
“Really?”

The guards glancing towards the door. Seeing it slightly ajar, they hurried over, eager to secure it. They slammed the door shut and locked it, oblivious that Maren had quietly circled around and was now standing behind them.
As one of the guards finished locking the door, he heard a blood–curdling scream. Turning, he saw his partner, a knife lodged clean through his chest.
Before he could react, the blade was ripped free, and Maren pressed it against his throat.
The cold steel against his skin and the sticky warmth of fresh blood sent an involuntary shiver down his spine.
“Please, miss, don’t do anything hasty. We’re not with the Sovereign Underworld!” His eyes were wide with terror, his hands raised in surrender.
“If the Sovereign Underworld had sent people like you, they would have been eliminated years ago.” Maren could tell they weren’t with the Sovereign Underworld. However, since he mentioned them, there was still a connection. “Are you with the Angels of Death?”
“Yes. How did you know?” The guard was shocked. When had he given himself away?
