Chapter 147 A Closet
“Do you have a first–aid kit here?” Maren asked.
“No.” Wyatt shook his head. This place was meant for holding prisoners, not saving lives.
“Then follow me.”
Maren stroked Isla’s hair before leaving the room, heading to the control room.
“Miss, what exactly are you up to?”
Omar was still in the control room. If Omar saw her, it would bring disaster.
Wyatt tried to dissuade Maren.
“You know how to pilot a submarine?” Maren asked, brushing off his concern.
Wyatt hesitated, baffled, but finally nodded.
“Perfect.” Maren picked up her pace, storming straight into the control room.
“Wyatt, what’s the hurry?” Omar heard hurried footsteps and naturally assumed Wyatt was approaching.
As he turned to greet him, a hand swiftly encircled his neck.
Omar froze in shock.
Before Omar even caught a glimpse of Maren’s face, she twisted his neck with one swift motion, killing him.
instantly.
Wyatt arrived just in time to see this ruthless action, his feet glued to the spot.
Maren’s cold gaze shifted towards him.
“Please, don’t kill me.”
One intense stare was enough to send tremors through Wyatt, and he wet himself as terror took over.
“Listen closely. I have a task for you. Do it right, and you won’t end up like him.” Maren didn’t bother hiding her impatience.
“What task?” Wyatt breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing Maren wasn’t going to kill him.
“You’ll handle submarine operations and pretend everything’s normal. I’ll be right back,” she commanded
firmly.
“Where are you going?” Wyatt asked.
“Don’t waste your breath asking questions. If I suspect anything funny, dying will be the easy part.”
The chilling warning instantly brought Wyatt back to the brink of panic.

Chapter 147 A Closet
“I understand! I’ll do everything you ask!” Wyatt nodded his head repeatedly, drenched in nervous sweat.
“Good.”
Maren seemed satisfied enough and moved towards the side door of the control room.
When she’d come from the ferry earlier, she’d stayed completely dry, hinting that there must’ve been a hidden connection between the ferry and the submarine.
Without any lock holding it shut, the door swung open easily.
Behind it was a rough passageway, angling upward, fitted with basic steps for climbing.
Isla’s injuries were serious, and there was nothing down here to help her. Maren had to go back to the ferry
and find medicine. Isla wouldn’t survive the day otherwise.
Ascending quickly, Maren moved with far more agility this time around, no longer slowed down by Gina.
She remembered Blackwood had a lot of medicine. She had to go back and get it.
Once Blackwood had gone, Maren had tended to her injuries and checked through the supplies. A lot of the medicine could be just what Isla needed.
If she used them correctly, she was sure she could keep Isla alive.
Given her rigorous medical training under the Sovereign Underworld and her impressive record in emergency treatments, Maren felt certain she could save Isla with the right supplies.
The passage ahead was pitch black, without a single source of light. Maren could barely see anything as she moved forward.
After what seemed like forever, her path suddenly ended abruptly. A dead–end blocked her advance.
Maren remained calm, assessing her surroundings. A pointless passage built by the Sovereign Underworld was unthinkable.
“This feels like wood,” Maren muttered, realizing what she stood before wasn’t a wall, but a relatively thin wooden panel.
She stretched her hands out to the sides and brushed against fabric.
Lifting it, Maren examined the material. It was clothing.
A wood panel in front and clothes on the sides…
While Maren silently pieced together her surroundings, a faint creaking sound caught her attention.
She instantly froze, listening closely
Soon after, she heard footsteps approaching. They were disorganized, which meant multiple people. Then came the click of a light switch.
A thin sliver of light streamed through a small gap in the wooden panel, and that was when Maren figured out where she was.
