Chapter 28 Are You Done Talking

Hannah’s palm was punctured by the pen tip, piercing her skin sharply. She yelped in agony, clenching her teeth. “Ouch! It hurts so much!”

The sudden outburst startled the other students. They all wondered what was happening.

“Hannah, what’s wrong?” Nadia hurried over, looking worried on the surface, but internally she was seething.

In her mind, Hannah was utterly incompetent for not managing even this small ordeal.

Pain overwhelmed Hannah as she peeked under the desk. Earlier, Maren had covertly kicked her knee, numbing her leg, which caused her to lose balance.

“Hannah, your stance is weak. Looks like you’ve been skipping workouts,” Maren taunted, head tilted and one hand resting against her check, a playful smirk on her face.

“Maren, you bitch!” Enraged and humiliated, Hannah’s temper flared.

She was a top student and couldn’t fathom being caught off guard by someone she viewed as inferior.

Suddenly, another thump resounded as Hannah’s head struck the desk once again.

When she raised her head, pain twisted her features–not from her forehead this time, but from her nose.

Blood flowed from her nostrils, drenching half her face and giving her a slightly terrifying appearance.

Once more, Maren took Hannah by surprise with a familiar tactic.

“I’m going to kill you!” Hannah snapped, overwhelmed by frustration from repeated humiliations.

She surged forward like a wild animal, reaching over the desk with outstretched hands, aiming to claw at Maren’s face.

Onlookers were horrified by the unfolding scene.

It appeared that Hannah was ready to battle Maren to the end. Could this situation spiral into a real tragedy?

While Nadia had not anticipated such an escalation, she remained unflustered, even seeing a potential advantage. Utilizing Hannah to eliminate Maren aligned perfectly with her plans.

“I’ll kill you, Maren!” Hannah screamed, her hands flailing at Maren in fury.

But Maren was not about to let her succeed. The training she had undergone at the military academy was negligible compared to the combat skills she had honed on international grounds.

Moreover, Hannah was clearly out of control, making her strikes ineffective against Maren.

“Let me help you calm down,” Maren said, countering with a sharp slap across Hannah’s face.

Hannah stumbled backward from Maren’s forceful slap, collapsing in a heap on the floor, her mind numb and emotions quelled.

“That should do it,” Maren said, brushing off her hands like she’d just finished a simple task.

Her phone interrupted the silence with a casual ring. On the line was Stormclaw, confirming his arrival at the

academy.

As she ended the call, Maren scanned the classroom and caught the sight of uneasy, wide–eyed stares directed

at her.

Those who dared make eye contact looked away.

Hannah’s appearance was horrific.

“Hannah… Hannah…”

Hannah was sprawled on the floor, her visage marred by blood and a noticeably swollen cheek. Her thoughts were no longer coherent.

Ignoring the curious glances, Maren turned away, her mind set on more pressing concerns.

On her way out, Maren halted, turned, and flashed Nadia a subtle smile. “Nadia, if you have a problem with me, step up yourself instead of having others fight your battles.”

Nadia was drenched in a sudden, cold sweat. Could Maren possibly have seen through her schemes? It seemed like a clear warning. Maren had flashed that exact same smile at Hannah just before. Yet, was this truly the same woman who had once been dismissed as weak and insignificant? Now, she managed every situation with such poise and assurance.

Normally, such words from anyone else would be dismissed as insanity, not to be taken seriously at all.

However, coming from Maren, the statement carried a hint of plausibility; after all, they already considered her a bit unhinged. Who else but Maren would have the audacity to stand up to the dean?

“Maren! What on earth are you thinking?” Wilbur burst into the classroom, his temper flaring.

At the threshold, he stopped short, encountering Maren just as she was on her way out.

He had caught the tail end of her bold confrontation with Nadia.

Entering the room, he immediately noticed the bloodied floor and Hannah’s pitiful condition.

“Nadia! Are you alright?” Casting a grave look at Maren, Wilbur hurried over to Nadia, whose face was still etched with traces of fear and disbelief.

Tears filled Nadia’s eyes as she called out, “Wilbur…” Her expression suggested that Maren had inflicted some great harm upon her.

A pang of pain shot through Wilbur’s heart.
