We packed up our stuff, my locket safely tucked away in my bag, and headed back home. On the way home I heard mine and Amy's phone go off. We both got a message from Brie.

Hey!! You're back! How come you didn't call? We're having a bonfire tonight, please come! Pretty please! We have food!!

I could just imagine her pouty face in my mind and laughed. I looked at Amy who shrugged. So I text her back.

Sure! But only if Thomas can come. He's been my friend since I was little, he's new here and I don't want to leave him alone. Plus Amy seems really attached

Amy was reading over my shoulder and elbowed me. I just laughed. A few minutes later Brie replied.

Uh I don't know about that.

Let me check with the guys.

I rolled my eyes. I didn't expect them to allow it and it was an easy way out.

Well if he can't come I'm not going to, and I doubt Amy will either. We'll just have to catch up another time.

I sent it and expected that to be the end of it. So I was surprised to hear my phone go off again a few moments later.

Everyone started taking turns telling stories about 'mythical creatures'. When I realized the stories they were telling were most likely true I decided to get a breath of fresh air. I walked toward the woods, but not into it, and sat down on a log. The sounds of the forest was calming. The cool breeze felt refreshing.

I didn't even notice that Michael had followed me until he sat down beside me. Reflexively I laid my head on his shoulder. He was wearing a cut off shirt but I was hoping since I wasn't wearing the necklace that I wouldn't hurt him. He stiffened but then relaxed. I wasn't sure if I hurt him or surprised him so I looked up at him. He was looking down at me. I saw confusion, warmth, and sadness in his eyes. This wasn't right of me to do, but I felt a strong connection to him, I felt like I loved him! I wanted him to love me back.

He sighed and looked up at the stars.

"I know you don't understand Noel. And I don't want to hurt you. I just can't." Michael almost choked over his words.

"Can I ask you one question and you be completely honest with me Michael?" I asked sincerely ignoring his statement, which seemed to catch him off guard. He nodded. "Do you promise me?" I ask sincerely.
