Valencia’s POV

The moment the words left Aiden’s mouth, the atmosphere shifted. 

Dante, who had been relaxed just moments ago, froze beside me. His grip on my hand subtly tightened, his posture straightening as his sharp blue eyes locked onto Aiden. 

“What do you mean gone?” His voice was calm, but the underlying edge was impossible to miss.

Aiden exhaled, leaning back against his chair, arms crossed over his chest. “So you don’t know, he murmured, shaking his head slightly. “Well, Jaxon went to Ravenwood to spend his rut alone. He was supposed to be back two days ago 

I frowned. That wasn’t unusual for Jaxon. He had always been reckless, disappearing for days, sometimes even a week, when he didn’t want to be bothered. 

Aiden continued, “There has been no contact from him. It’s been over 48 hours, and there’s no trace of him. He just vanished.” 

Dante’s jaw ticked. 

The room went silent, everyone processing the weight of Aiden’s words. 

I felt my pulse quicken. “What do you mean, without a trace? When was he last seen?” 

Aiden ran a hand through his dark hair. “Exiting the hotel he was staying at in Ravenwood. That was two days ago. His last message was to Alpha Roman–just a routine check–in. Since then? Nothing. No calls. No messages. His phone isn’t even traceable.” 

I stole a glance at Dante, whose expression was unreadable, but I knew. 

We all knew. 

This was a problem. 

Because Dante’s plan had revolved around Jaxon. 

Caius knew it. Marcelene knew it. I knew it. 

Dante had told me a couple days ago that his revenge wasn’t about senseless violence or an all–out war. He wasn’t looking to slaughter the Wolfe pack. 

No–he was going to take them apart from the inside. 

And Jaxon? 

Jaxon was a crucial piece of that puzzle. 

I remembered when I had asked him why he wanted revenge–why, after the war, after agreeing to the alliance, he was still holding onto this. 

And his answer had been simple. 

“Because they deserve it.”

And Raiden’s illness and death had been the final straw. His mother’s death caused by the Wolfe’s had led to his father ingesting poison too. 

That’s when he made his final decision. 

He wouldn’t go after innocents. 

He wouldn’t start another war. 

But he would ensure that the wolves who wronged him, the ones who had stolen from him, paid the price. 

Alpha Roman. 

Jason. 

Jaxon. 

I only found out later that during the engagement, Jason had overdosed on drugs. Banned drugs which contained ‘Mirage‘ in them. That had explained why Alpha Selene had been so upset, considering her own sister had died from the same poison. 

However Jason didn’t die. He was arrested directly by Alpha Selene once he recovered. 

Had the engagement ceremony not been so lavish with the SNC invited, and his ‘incident‘ been covered up in silence, he wouldn’t have been caught or imprisoned. 

But I had a hunch that Alpha Selene being involved in this mess was part of Dante’s plan. 

So Jason was in jail to rot for at least a decade or two 

Roman on the other hand was already sickly and would soon depart this world without us needing to do much. 

Jaxon was supposed to be the final piece. 

But now? 

He had simply disappeared. 

I bit my lip, my mind racing. 

Was this something that happened in my past life? 

I tried to think back–Jaxon had often disappeared on “business meetings,” but he had never just vanished. 

And even with all his cheating and affairs, he had never gone completely silent. 

Something wasn’t right. 

Marcelene was the first to break the silence. 

“Maybe he’s dead,” she suggested, her tone almost hopeful. 

I scoffed. “Highly doubt that.”

Even if he was dying, he wouldn’t go quietly. 

If he was in trouble, he’d make damn sure the whole world knew about it.

Dante sighed, rubbing the bridge of his nose. “Well, we can’t do anything but wait and watch,” he finally said. “I’ll put some people on it, see if I can track his last movements.” 

I exhaled, nodding. “So… our plan is on hold?” 

Dante’s lips pressed into a thin line. “For now.” 

The tension in the room remained thick, even as the meal came to an end. 

But my mind wasn’t just stuck on Jaxon. 

His disappearance had triggered something else–something I had been meaning to ask for a long time. 

Tatiana Wolfe. 

The Steele pack believed she had poisoned Aurora. 

But where was the proof? 

Dante said Raiden had claimed to have it, but Raiden was dead now. 

That truth–if it even was the truth–was buried with him. 

And the way Tatiana had died? Heart failure. 

At least, that was the official cause that Roman had given 

But now… I wasn’t so sure. 

What if there was more to it? 

And what about my own mother? 

Did she really just die in childbirth like Lethia said? 

Or was there something else I wasn’t seeing? 

Too many unanswered questions swirled in my head.
