Chapter 155 novel The Reborn Omega's Revenge (Valencia)

Valencia’s POV

Jaxon’s gaze flickered past me, his sharp eyes locking onto Seven, then drifting downward to the bag clutched tightly in his hands. The one with Castor inside.

A shiver ran down my spine.

I immediately straightened, forcing my tone into something casual. “Is that all?”

Jaxon lingered for a moment, as if debating whether to say something. But then, with a lazy smirk, he nodded and turned to Aiden. “Why don’t you sit and entertain our guests for a while?” His voice was smooth, condescending—like he was giving a child permission to play.

Then he left.

The tension in the room lifted slightly, but it was still suffocating.

Marcy was the first to break the silence. She sighed and muttered under her breath, “That bastard gets on my nerves. Can’t we do something about him right now?”

Aiden, ignoring her comment entirely, stepped forward to shake hands with Dante.

It had been a while since Aiden had directly interacted with us. Ever since Jaxon’s visit to Steele territory, he had kept his distance, only visiting once—and even then, he had stayed for barely an hour before leaving.

He was being extra cautious. In fact after he had told us about the mole we had completely stopped speaking anything about the plan in the presence of our maids and servants.

Even though they all were bound by contracts, we never knew if they might find a loophole around it. So we did most of our discussions in the library.

I watched as he and Dante exchanged fake pleasantries, their words meaningless.

Aiden was playing his role well, keeping his expression neutral, but I saw the way his fingers curled slightly at his sides, like he was holding something back.

Then, subtly, his gaze flicked toward Seven.

Seven, who was gripping his bag with slightly trembling fingers.

Aiden took his chance. He extended his hand for a shake, and in that brief contact, Seven passed off the tiny recording devices into Aiden’s palm.

Aiden pocketed them smoothly without so much as a glance.

Then, his sharp blue eyes landed on me.

“You should go greet the Alpha,” he said, voice calm but firm. “He’s been getting sicker.”

I stiffened slightly.

Sicker?

My first instinct was to glance at Dante, but before I could, Aiden continued. “He isn’t taking any outside visitors right now.”

Outside visitors?

Dante was my husband. He wasn’t an outsider. But Aiden wouldn’t say something like that without a reason.

I exhaled slowly, keeping myself calm. “I’ll be back soon,” I murmured to Dante.

He didn’t like it. I could feel it through our bond. His blue eyes flickered down toward my ankles, and realization struck me.

My anklets.

For some reason, he had become obsessive about making sure I always wore them. At first, I had brushed it off as a sentimental attachment. But lately… I had started to suspect there was more to it.

Did he have some kind of tracker inside them?

It wasn’t an entirely unreasonable thought and maybe it was weird but I wouldn’t be against it if he had. No, in fact that would only make me feel safer.

Dante studied me for a long moment before sighing. “Be careful,” he said finally.

I gave him a reassuring nod before following Aiden out of the room.

We walked in silence down the long corridor, past familiar halls filled with unfamiliar faces.

But then, Aiden took a turn.

I frowned.

We weren’t heading toward the main elevator.

We were going toward the kitchen.

Why?

My unease deepened as I followed him, my heels clicking softly against the polished floor. The tension in Aiden’s shoulders was evident, even as he tried to keep his pace casual.

When we entered the kitchen filled with busy servants and cooks, I realized why.

He was leading me to the kitchen elevator.

The moment we stepped inside, the doors slid shut, and his entire posture collapsed.
