Chapter 37
Valencia’s POV
I sat on the bed, my lips trembling as I tried to steady my breath wrapping around my chest like a vice. My egg trembled in its co

The oppressive silence in the room pressed down on me, its faint pulsing light growing erratic.
I reached for it instinctively, cradling it against me. “It’s okay,” I murmured, rocking it gently. “I’m okay. Don’t worry!”
The egg’s glow stabilized, the trembling slowing as I held it close. A warmth coursed through me, soft and comforting, like the little life inside was trying to reassure me in return.
I smiled faintly despite myself.
Looking around. I let my eyes wander over the room for the first time since I’d woken here. The decor was masculine yet refined, a mixture of dark hues and elegance.
Midnight blue drapes cascaded over tall windows, their edges embroidered with silver threads that shimmered faintly under the glow of the glass chandelier overhead. The ceiling was high, aulted, with intricate carvings of illegible words etched into
its beams.
A plush black rug stretched across the floor, complementing the onyx–marble fireplace to one side. The walls were paneled with rich ebony wood, broken only by the occasional art piece. Everything about the room screamed wealth, power, and control.
My gaze landed on the wedding dress hanging against one wall was stunning, almost otherworldly. Layers of ivory silk and lace cascaded like waterfalls, the hem embroidered with shimmering golden threads. Tiny crystal beads dotted the bodice, catching the light and creating an illusion of starlight.
1 stepped closer, running my fingers over the fabric.
This was the dress I had chosen back at the mall. But now it had more crystals and embroidery etched into it. Instead of making the dress look gaudy or too full, it only made it more ethereal and beautiful.
Like it was made just for me.
Unlike the plain silk wedding dress I had worn when I married Jaxon. A wedding dress passed onto me by the previous pack Luna As per the traditions, all Wolfe park Lunas were to wear the same dress on the day of their weddings.
Now that I think about it
In this world it had only been a year since she died, but
for me it had been more than seven years since I last saw her.
Tatiana Wolfe. The Wolfe pack’s deceased Luna. She might have been the only woman in the whole pack who had treated me justly. She was a beautiful woman, with Ebony hair and silver eyes. I had mourned for her the most after her death Because I knew after her departure there would be no one to shield me if I was ever punished unjustly.
I sighed. It has already been a long time since I had gotten used to being without her had more pressing matters to think about now.
I pressed my palm to my forehead, How has my life come to this
My mind raced, retracing the steps that had led me here. Everything felt like a blur.
Panic shot through me as realization hit.
1 groaned, dropping my hand. “Marcelene..”

I’d spent the entire night here. I’d fallen asleep in Dante’s room, and I hadn’t thought about her once. What kind of friend was I? My heart raced as I darted toward the side table, grabbing he sleek black telephone that sat atop it.
My fingers trembled as I dialed Marcelene’s number. Each ringelt like an eternity until finally, her voice crackled through the line. “Hello?”
“Marcy! It’s me!” I blurted, relief washing over me.
There was a pause, followed by a sharp intake of breath. “Valencia? Oh, thank god! Are you okay? Where are you?”
“L. My voice faltered. “Tin fine. I’m with Dante.
Marcelene exhaled heavily. “Damn it, Valencia! I was worried sick I thought he’d-” She cut herself off. “Never mind. Are you sure you’re okay? Did that bastard do something? What the hell even happened? I called the Wolfe pack to ask, but they don’t know anything. As far as they’re concerned, you’re still on the run. And Dante? That psycho hasn’t waged war yet, so what gives?”
I rubbed my temple. “Marcy, it’s..complicated.”
“Complicated?” Her voice rose. “Valencia, that man turned into a freaking Dragon! What the hell is he
I sighed, leaning back against the headboard. “He’s part dragon. didn’t know either, not until yesterday.”
“This is insane, Marcelene inuttered, “I decided not to tell the Wolfe pack, though. Involving them would probably make things worse for you. But what now? Are you planning to escape
I scoffed weakly. “Escape? Now?” I shook my head, though she couldn’t see me. “Marcy, I don’t think I have a choice anymore.”
“Valencia…” she began, her tone heavy with worry.
“Let me finish,” I interrupted. “Dante doesn’t seem that bad.”
“Neither did Jaxon, Vi
I clenched my teeth, swallowing back the sting of her words, “Marcy, it’s different this time. I was supposed to get married yesterday, but it didn’t happen. That day passed. Don’t you see? We changed something. We altered a major event in the timeline.” I didn’t mention the fact that we were both parents to an egg now.
