Chapter 45
Valencia’s POV
Dante’s lips against mine carried that warmth again–a soft yet consuming sensation that flowed through me, spreading out like golden sunlight through my veins. It was intimate, comforting, and utterly disarming.
The warmth was familiar,
Last night, as I’d teetered on the edge of consciousness, I’d felt it too. Dante’s healing had been shrouded in the haze of exhaustion and pain, leaving me too dazed to question It
Today had passed in a whirlwind, leaving no room for contemplation. But now, as that same feeling coursed through me again, I couldn’t ignore it.
How had Dante done that?
My thoughts shifted to the events of last night–the closeness of his body, the softness of his voice, the absolute care in his touch. Heat flushed my cheeks at the memory, and I averted my gaze as our kiss ended, hoping no one could see how red I’d become beneath the veil
We stood before the cathedral full of guests, and Dante’s hand rested lightly on mine, steadying me. I realized, for the first time in a long time, I didn’t feel overwhelmed while being with him. Nervous? Yes. But his presence was now like a soothing balm to my usually frayed nerves.
The ceremony was over. I was his wife now,
The thought hit me like a sudden gust of wind. I was married. Again.
It felt surreal as we walked hand in hand from the altar, the congratulations of our guests blurring into background noise. Every step felt weighted, not by regret.or fear, but by the sheer gravity of what had just occurred.
I had taken this step, willingly once again,
into an uncertain future.
Dante led me to the bridal suite to freshen up for the reception. The room was lavish, decorated with gold accents and intricate embroidery on the furniture. A large mirror stretched across one wall, reflecting the two of us as we stepped inside,
Dante closed the door behind us, and suddenly, the air between us shifted.
I clutched my bouquet a little tighter, nerves prickling along my skin. My reflection stared back at me, the veil still draped over my face. The dress, the jewelry, the vows–it all screamed “ife,” and yet I felt like I was teetering between two worlds.
Technically, I’d only been single for a month.
But in another way, it had been a lifetime since I had been someone’s wife.
“Making weird faces again, are we?” Dante teased, his voice laced with amusement.
I blinked at him through the veil. “I–no, I’m not!”
“You are,” he said with a chuckle, stepping behind me. His warmth enveloped me as he leaned in close, his breath brushing against my ear. “How do you feel?”
He gently lifted the veil, his hands grazing my skin as he pulled away completely. His reflection loomed behind me in the mirror, his piercing blue eyes locked onto mine as he rested his hands on the dressing table, caging me in.
“F–fine,” I stammered, my voice cracking.

His lips quirked, a knowing smirk playing on them. “You don’t sound fine.”
1 bit my lip, a nervous habit 1 hadn’t shaken, but Dante’s thumb was quick to free it. His gaze darkened as he leaned closer, tilting my chin upward. “Don’t do that,” he murmured, his voice dropping to a husky whisper that sent a shiver down my spine. “What if it starts bleeding?”
Before I could respond, his lips captured mine. This kiss was different–slower, deeper, more deliberate. His hands trailed down my sides, steady and firm, as if binding me to him. My to curled in my heels, and I gasped when he lifted me effortlessly, settling me on the edge of the dressing table.
The world outside seemed to melt away as he deepened the kiss is presence overwhelmed me in the best possible way, and for a moment, I forgot everything except the warmth of his touch and the way his lips moved against mine.
When we finally parted, both breathless, I caught myself biting my lip again. Dante’s thumb immediately came to the rescue, his touch lingering a moment too long.
“Stop, you’ll hurt yourself,” he said softly, his voice tinged with something deeper–desire, maybe?
Heat pooled in my abdomen, and I struggled to keep my thoughts coherent. But before I could speak, a loud knock at the door startled me, breaking the moment.
I pushed Dante back instinctively, fumbling to straighten my dress. He sighed, running a hand through his hair as he stepped away, adjusting his coat.
The door opened to reveal Raiden.
“Father,” Dante greeted, his tone with a tinge of annoyance, but still respectful.

Raiden stepped inside, his expression softening as his eyes moved between us. To my surprise, he smiled warmly and pulled his son into a brief hug before turning to me.
“Congratulations,” he said, his voice sincere. He placed a hand on my shoulder, his touch surprisingly gentle. “You’ve made an excellent choice, Dante.”
I didn’t know how to respond. Raiden Steele was an enigma to me–neither cruel nor kind. I couldn’t tell if he was a good person or not. But did that even matter? I couldn’t let my guard down either way.
He was still an Alpha.
“Thank you,” I said cautiously, watching him closely.
He nodded, stepping back. “Hurry now. The reception is waiting, and you don’t want to keep the guests waiting too long.”
Once he left, Dante grabbed my hands entwining them with mine “Shall we?”
I nodded, taking a deep breath as we stepped outside of the room: We left the cathedral and the side door opened to the reception area.
The garden was a breathtaking sight.
Massive tents with delicate silver drapes billowed gently in the evening breeze, lit by strings of twinkling lights that cast a warm glow over the scene. Tables were adorned with red and white centerpieces, and the faint aroma of lavender liggered in
the air.
My eyebrows quirked up at the sight, then my gaze moved onto the food station and I noticed something which made my heart beat faster.
Was this why he had asked so many questions back at the mall?

The food stations were filled with dishes I loved–freshly baked pizza, creamy sea food soup, grilled vegetables, and red velvet cupcakes, lotus flavoured ice cream, vanilla and fruit pastries and chocolate eclairs. There was ever a separate sushi
station.
My stomach grumbled slightly and I forced myself to look away from the mouth watering food.
Dante had chosen all of my favourite desserts and also many of my favourite snacks.
