Austin sits me on a large rock then takes his place next to me. I lean onto his chest and look at the water, I remember when we came here together.
I asked him if he loved me. He told me he did. We promised we would 'forever.'
"Austin." I say looking up into his green eyes. He stares down at me and smiles genuinely at me. "I have something to tell you."
"What's wrong?" He asks instantly "are you okay?" His eyes search every inch of my body.
"I'm fine, I swear." I laugh lifting his chin so his eyes meet mine. "I have a surprise. Close your eyes."
"Oh come on Maia." He chuckles "just let it out!" He clutched me tightly as his chest vibrates in laughter.
"Just close your eyes." I say rolling my eyes playfully then putting my hand over his eyes, he laughs and puts his hand over my own.
"What now Maia?" He asks keeping one arm around my waist. I untangle it and place the hand on my stomach.
"Now, listen." I say softly, we sit in silence and even I hear it. The faint beating of hearts, the hearts of our babies. I move our hands away from his eyes and clutch his hand.
What will he say?
His eyes pop open and the love explodes from them. He hugs me tightly then pulls away and places a hand on my stomach again.
"Twins?" He asks excitedly, I nod and he leans in and kisses my lips softly. We sit back down and I lean against him once again this time with the feeling of parenthood sown into my chest.
"Austin," he hums and looks down at me "I love you."
"I love you too Maia." He says then suddenly looking back at the lake "I thought of this place when I l-lost you, I came here all the time. This place reminded me of you. The way you swam in the lake and the way you stood beneath the waterfall. Your amazing Maia and I'm so lucky to have you as my mate. When you weren't here I realised how it feels to live without you, I never want that Maia. I love you too much. I can't wait for the day when our life starts, with pups and you as my wife running the pack. Maia, do you want to be with me? Forever? Because I want to marry you Maia, so..."
Tears run down my cheeks as I watch him jump off the rock and kneel down on one knee. A gasp escapes my lips as he pulls out a small blue velvet box.
"Will you marry me?"
I let out a sob of excitement and stand up.
"Yes!! Of course I will!" I shout and he places the small silver band with a diamond onto my ring finger.
"Forever." He says stand up and taking my waist in his arms.
