“Garbisch, would you really risk further angering the King to ask him for that?” Jessica responded sohly, her voice gentle but resolute.

“You know, the King was furious when you used your military achievements to secure my annulment. He must have been enraged,” she added.

Though Jessica hadn’t been with him at the time, she could still imagine how furious the King must have been

However, considering Garbisch’s severe injuries and his military accomplishments, the King still held the Yates family in high regard. If Garbisch asked for something, even if the King was angry, he would likely relent.

“But,” she added thoughtfully, “the King’s sympathy is a one–time thing. If we change our minds now, he will never show us such leniency again.”
