Actually, it wasn’t a bad thing at all. Leon was a real man who didn’t rely on his looks to make a living. He couldn’t care less whether he was ugly or r
If there ever came a day when he had to choose between his face and even a single finger, he’d definitely choose to keep fils finger, even if it meant permanent disfigurement.
His face was the least of his concerns.
Jessica took quite some time to regain her composure.
‘What was I thinking?‘ Jessica wondered, unconsciously walking to the bedside. Almost without realizing it, she reached out and removed the mask from
Leon’s face.
Perhaps due to years of wearing a mask, his skin was noticeably lighter than most men’s, smooth and untouched by the weather–beaten roughness one would expect from a battlefield veteran.
She thought, ‘Maybe wearing a mask isn’t so bad after all. At least it shields him from the wind, rain, and harsh sun, so he doesn’t get tanned so easily… My mind is wandering again.‘
It wasn’t until Jessica snapped back to reality that she realized she’d somehow ended up sitting by the bed, completely mesmerized as she stared at
Leon’s face.
“Convinced now?” Leon smirked.
Jessica’s face burned with embarrassment as she quickly averted her gaze from his face.
‘Damn his good looks!‘ Jessica thought.
Never had she imagined a face could be this breathtaking. One fleeting glance, and the memory was etched in her mind forever.
‘That one glance felt like an eternity,’ Jessica thought, utterly mesmerized, she completely forgot where she was.
“Guess I’m only human after all.” She stood up, moved to sit nearby, and looked at him. “Your Highness, now that I’m here, is there anything you want to say? By the way, your condition isn’t serious. You don’t need to pretend to be sick anymore, just focus on recovering.”
“I’m seriously injured,” Leon protested, “That claw nearly pierced my heart, how can you call that ‘no big deal‘?”
But most importantly, she never came to visit him.
“It was indeed dangerous at the time, but your vital arteries weren’t harmed, were they? Had they been, Your Highness wouldn’t be here conversing with me now, would you?”
Jessica deliberately avoided looking at his face, she just wasn’t used to it yet.
With such an impossibly handsome face constantly in her line of sight, Jessica found it nearly impossible to focus on
She no longer doubted his words, perhaps wearing a mask really did make things a lot easier.
rational analysis.
“If my face makes you uncomfortable, I can always put the mask back on,” Leon said, having noticed how deliberately she avoided looking at him.
“No need, I’ll get used to it,” Jessica said. But the moment those words left her mouth, she regretted it.
She thought, ‘Wait, did that mean I’d be visiting him often from now on?‘
Leon immediately seized on the hint in her words, a grin spreading across his face. He said, “Great. Just come see me more often, you’ll get used to it soon enough.”

Chapter 259
Maybe he got a little too worked up, his breath hitched, and he broke into a fit of coughing
Every cough left the metallic taste of blood in his mouth.
