Chapter 128
“Anastasia, everything you have was given by Alastor,” Felicia said, shaking her head dramatically. “And now, he no longer wants you. What else do you have? You have nothing.”
Anastasia knew that coming here today would result in Felicia humiliating her.
This was what Alastor wanted to achieve.
Anastasia’s eyes turned red, but she said nothing.
“What are you cocky about? Remember the first time we met? You looked so arrogant when I said I’m Mr. Lopez’s secretary. You acted like you wanted everyone to know your identity as Alastor’s wife. How dare you interrogate me about why he drank so much wine? Do you think you’ll always be superior to me?” Felicia’s face twisted with malicious delight, making it clear that her revenge had been successful.
Anastasia took a deep breath. That day, she had asked why Alastor was drinking so much because she felt sorry for him. She had never intended to interrogate Felicia.
On the other hand, Felicia overreacted because she knew she was wrong.
“You and the Lawson family are like beggars, pestering Mr. Lopez every day and night. In the four years of your marriage, he has to deal with many problems for your family and lose a lot of money to your greedy father. I don’t know how Mr. Lopez endures living with a woman like you for four years.” An annoyed Lionel chimed in, supporting Felicia’s indignation.
Lionel spoke as if he felt sorry for Alastor. “With your lowly family background, do you think Mr. Lopez wants to marry you? You only got lucky because you met him when he needed a woman to get married.”
Their derision caused Anastasia to lose her strength to stand. She had to lean against the wall.,
There was no escape for her. She could only stand there, feeling like she was placed in a pillory of shame, exposed to the humiliation of anyone passing by.
Many people were coming and going, and quite a few of them would stop to take a look, drawn by the commotion.
Now, a triumphant Felicia did her best to degrade Anastasia. She wanted people to believe that Anastasia constantly bothered Alastor, even though he did not consider her a legitimate wife.
