She wore a custom–made black gown, elegant yet understated. Her long, wavy hair cascaded over her shoulders, and the only accessory she wore was a simple pair of pearl earrings. The whole look was effortlessly chic, perfectly in tune with the theme of the evening. 

At a charity gala like this, anything too extravagant would have been out of place. 

Without hesitation, Charlotte linked her arm with Arthur’s, and the two walked into the venue together. A few reporters caught sight of them walking hand in hand and quickly snapped a picture. 

The lighting highlighted them perfectly, casting a soft glow that seemed to hint at some unspoken fate between them. The moment felt surreal, and anyone watching couldn’t help but be captivated. 

Inside the grand banquet hall, guests gathered in small clusters, chatting and catching up. 

As soon as Arthur entered, all eyes were on him. It didn’t take long for a crowd to form around him, eager to get his attention.

Just as she sat down, someone approached her. “Aren’t you supposed to be getting a divorce from Arthur? Why are you here with him? Are you having second thoughts?” 

It was Sophia, wearing an extravagant designer gown that sparkled with jewels. She was already beautiful, but tonight, she looked every bit the part of a high–society diva. 

“None of your business.” 

Charlotte didn’t even glance at her, calmly eating her fruit without a word. 

Sophia smirked. “I knew it. A woman who goes through all that just to catch a rich guy like Arthur isn’t going to let him go that easily. You’re just pretending, aren’t you? So tacky.” 

Charlotte finally looked up, her eyes cold as she met Sophia’s gaze. “What gives you the right to judge me? You’re openly chasing after a married man, and you think you’re some kind of 

saint?”
