But Mason’s emotions were running too high, and his still–healing body couldn’t handle it. He suddenly broke into a fit of coughing. 

That night at the dinner, everyone had gathered around the lounge door. Mason pretended to be concerned about Arthur’s health, but then, without warning, he flung the door open. 

What they saw left them in shock. Sarah was on the carpet with a waiter, tangled in a passionate embrace. 

Gasps and murmurs rippled through the crowd. “Weren’t they supposed to be with Mr. Harrison? What’s going on?” 

“Oh my god, this is so embarrassing. She actually begged him to sleep with her?” 

“Who started the rumor about her and Mr. Harrison? Whoever it was is disgusting. Are they trying to ruin his reputation?” 

Mason stood frozen, his mind racing. He quickly realized what was happening, slammed the door shut, and told the organizers to clear everyone out. He had the waiter dragged away and sent Sarah straight to the hospital.

When she finally woke up, the shock was too much for her. She tried to take her own life more than once. Mason wanted to track Arthur down, but Barrett stopped him, dragging him back to the hospital and ordering him to rest and stay out of it. 

Mason quickly realized–it was all part of Arthur’s plan. He pieced it together. Arthur had locked him in the hospital room. 

For three days, Mason was on edge, and during that time, Gideon came to visit. He gave Mason a complicated look, asking what role he had played in everything. Mason stayed silent, waiting for Arthur. 

Finally, when Arthur appeared, Mason couldn’t hold back anymore. “You promised Tiffany you’d be with Sarah, so why are you regretting it now? Why are you marrying someone else? How can you live with yourself after all that? How could you face Tiffany?” Mason’s eyes were filled with rage as he stared down Arthur. 

Arthur sat down, calm and collected. No matter how upset Mason got, Arthur remained unmoved, his eyes as cold as ice. “Who told you that Tiffany’s wish was for me to be with Sarah?” His voice was low and cutting, full of disdain. 

Mason gripped the edge of the bed, his veins throbbing. “The Miller family. Didn’t you say that yourself?”
