Arthur’s cold gaze suddenly locked onto Pete’s face!

Pete walked over slowly and, looking at Charlotte’s shocked face, asked with furrowed brows, “He didn’t tell you? He’s already investigated everything. You were also a victim five years ago.” 

After a pause, he added, “Maybe he didn’t tell you because he couldn’t find out who drugged you?” 

Charlotte whirled around to face Arthur, rushing up to him in fury. “You knew all along?” 

She stared at him like he was a stranger, her eyes filled with disbelief and shock! 

Scenes from recent events flashed through her mind! 

He’d been hung up on what happened five years ago, yet he’d known all along that she’d been forced into it! 

He’d known the whole time!

Arthur tilted his head slightly, blinking slowly. His heart felt like someone had carved out a piece of it. The pain was excruciating, unfamiliar. He stood frozen in place.

Julius ran after her, his delicate young face filled with worry. “Can I come with you?” 

Charlotte shook her head. “Julius, I need some time alone.”

“Julius.” Bennett’s deep voice cut through the tension. “Come back to Harrison Villa with me. She’s your mother. She won’t abandon you.” 

Julius kept holding Charlotte’s hand, his voice breaking. “Mommy, I’m sorry. Grandma always told me you trapped Dad into becoming his wife. I thought that was wrong and that you weren’t a good mom. I know better now.” 

Charlotte gently patted his head and said softly, “Go home with great–grandpa.”
