Arthur’s brow furrowed. “Are you there yet?” 

“Almost,” Charlotte snapped before hanging up. 

She parked her car at the kindergarten entrance and sprinted 

inside.

Arthur stared at his phone screen with a deepening frown, then turned to Jacob. “Contact the kindergarten principal and find out what’s going on. Also, check with Julius‘ security detail if they’ve noticed anything unusual.” 

“Right away, sir.” 

Jacob immediately pulled out his phone to make the calls. 

Arthur’s eyes remained fixed on the contact name on his screen. 

[Mrs. Harrison.] 

Two simple words he’d pinned to the top of his contacts. 

Mr. and Mrs. Harrison were once the closest of relationships.

His eyes darkened as his prominent Adam’s apple bobbed heavily.

“Mr. Harrison, Mr. Julius Harrison is fine. The kindergarten organized a field trip today, and all the children went out with the principal,” Jacob reported, looking up at him. 

Arthur’s expression turned grim as he abruptly stood up. 

“Pull two guards from Julius‘ detail and send them to the kindergarten, Charlotte’s walking into a trap!”

They quickly reached the infirmary door. Fallon pushed it open and said, “Mrs. Harrison, Julius is right inside.”

Charlotte hadn’t noticed it before, but now she caught the telltale nervousness in Fallon’s eyes. She took a step back, creating distance between them. 

“You’re lying.” 

At those words, Fallon grabbed her hand firmly. “Mrs. Harrison, I’m not lying. Julius is right inside! Please, go check on him.” 

As she spoke, she tried to drag Charlotte into the infirmary. 

But Charlotte was already on high alert and wasn’t about to let herself be pulled inside. 

She pinched the soft flesh under Fallon’s arm, making her cry out in pain and release her grip. 

Charlotte seized the moment and ran!
