“Don’t bother.” Ava cut her off quickly. “I’m staying at the Hardwick Villa. You seem busy, so focus on your work. Don’t worry about me. I’ve got to go now, bye.” 

Charlotte stared at her phone in a daze after the call ended, her emotions in turmoil. 

Ava’s tone and attitude remained the same as before, but something about it filled Charlotte with an inexplicable dread.
